I don't really know how I was came across this item, but I did. It it basically a compression sock for the leg that will empty the leg of blood and recirculate it into systemic circulation while preventing back flow into the legs. This is to be used in extreme trauma with associated bleeding that is uncontrolled and that leads to hemorrhagic shock. It basically claims that it can transfuse 1 L of the body's own blood, avoiding hemo-dilution by over infusing of crystalloids, and avoids potential complications of transfusions. The part that heightened my senses was where it started comparing the product to MAST pants...

Anyways, the link that I saw the initial product: http://maddoxdefensemedical.com/6000700.html

The link to the study: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...Mzsf5sCHMRquXwQiQ&sig2=yrH4CDJnzkjOVX5v6KySoA

The product in the first link is FDA approved and if it pans out, I think it could be a valuable tool, especially for those in a locale with extended transport times, knowing that no EMS agency that I know of carries blood products for field transfusion.

What do you guys think?
