Another strike against Houston private EMS

At least he had the good sense to call 911 and ask for help.

That's terrible but it seems like a "my word vs. yours" argument.

I agree with JP at least he didn't try to hide what was happening and called for help along with looking for a solution.

I'm interested to see the outcome of this. I can only hope that the medic isn't lying about the equipment checkoff.

I'm not sure if I see the direct correlation with Houston's EMS and a private, event standby company though.

A 10 year-old battery can certainly exhibit the behavior that was reported.

And most likely did. When I worked for an agency in Dallas, we had primarily LP 10's and 11's, such as shown... hated them, hated the batteries.

S*** happens. You can check off your truck and your gear all you want, but it can still fail. Not the medics fault. Though I am surprised they didn't have extra batteries on the truck... I always had atleast 2 spares when I had those monitors. LPs suck with battery life as is.

i heard about this through a friend earlier, its very surprising to see an ambulance with such outdated equipment on the truck when that ambulance service is associated with a very popular hospital based EMS agency

Also, no AC cord and/or inverter on the ambulance?

This wasn't a 911 MCHD truck, it was a private ambulance.

Sounds like crappy management to me.
