Hello guys, I have been reading the forums for about a year now and recently decided to sign up. I got a call from AMR Riverside a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with them. All the threads I've read are from 2 years ago. I would specifically like to know about the hiring process and interviews. Thank you!

Nothing has changed to my knowledge, so all the info in those posts are still up to date.

Oh perfect! Thank you for the quick response. One more question. When talking about your future do they like to hear that you want to eventually make it in the Fire Department or do they prefer people that want to move up to Paramedic?

Really depends on who is doing the interview. Most if not all supervisors and managers know people want to go fire. It makes it a lot easier to go fire if you are a Medic.

If your employed with AMR as an EMT when you are done with Medic school you already have a job as a medic.

Ok so they wouldn't pick someone else over me, if I mention that I want to eventually go to FD?

Can't say either way.

Agunob,
If you don't mind me asking... How long was the time frame from the passed written, and app to getting a call for a interview?

I'm on the wait list right now, and just wanted to get a recent time frame from someone.

Thanks!

That will vary. My friend got a call before she took the written test. She took it after she interviewed (group interview). She got a phone call and a job offer from HR two weeks after she finally took the written test, but she's a medic. Really, it's likely to be a function of where you land in the hire cycle for a particular division.

I passed the test mid June and got the call for interview mid Sept. 3 month from what I've read is the average.

Thanks for the info, guys. Both help me out with trying to figure out if I'm just being inpatient - I am.
