It urks me that they stage Boston EMS giving CMED patches of incoming patients then blatantly show a private or fire department bringing in the actual patient (talking about Save My Life-Boston Trauma). Boston EMS was not originally going to be a show but they had so much extra material from...
PD and BLS have it in my neck of the woods. BLS has the straight 2mg and cannot titrate. In regards to indication, I've even seen fellow ALS providers give it to patients who don't need to be receiving it. Unconscious+solid respiratory effort will never get narcan from me.
A large majority of cops around me carry the SWAT due to its ability to lay flat behind a plate carrier or armor bundled with some quik-clot. I've only used one as a pressure dressing and it worked great. Probably wouldn't use one as a first line TQ if I had a CAT handy just due to the fact its...
The SWAT-T TQ might fit your bill. It's pretty compact but then again a CAT is pretty small too. You're disillusioned if you think an IV rubber TQ will stop arterial bleeding.
Thanks DEmedic! I will tomorrow morning when I get off shift. We will ultimately have a professional do the install, but as of now I'm just looking at options from a budget point of view and if there are any considerations we need to make the architect aware of.
Our agency is undergoing the process of designing a new station. Our current station is attached directly to our dispatching center so tones come over via a PA which is hard-lined and plays our tones plus the voice dispatch.
The new station will be a separate building so I was tasked with...
I wouldn't. Scrubs aren't professional outside of a hospital setting. If you can get a pair of emt pants that's great. If not, navy or tan khakis would look better than scrubs in my opinion.
Do some research on volunteer agencies in your area or a collegiate run service at your university. Those are usually far more forgiving in their commitment and scheduling.
That's sorta scary. While a 68W has a greater scope than a regular EMT, their knowledge of A&P and why they are doing procedures is very limited. It's the skills vs knowledge argument. You could teach a monkey to intubate but it won't know why or when. Providing whiskeys with a bridge course...
