Hey there, I'm looking at moving to Louisiana because I found an EMS company down there that'll let me work full time and reimburse me for paramedic training. Are there any other options like this out there?
I've been invited to test for AMR in Yakima, WA. They said the written test is similar to the National Registry. Anybody have any advice or information on the test or working for AMR in general?
I personally haven't taken that course but I use to work with a few guys that did at Olympic Ambulance. The general thought on the program is that you get out of it what you put into it. Most of them took it at the same time so they could all study together and they all seemed to really like...
I know a few people that have gone through the program from Massachusetts and I've been thinking of doing it myself. Basically the general consensus is that the program is what you make it. Some of the medics from that program weren't people to admire and a few were great. That being said...
I'm not sure what the medic pay is like. I'm guessing low since EMTs get paid minimum. The Port Angeles location has medics and runs 911 calls. The branch in Bremerton I believe does as well but I'm not familiar with their system or their pay scale.
Yeah I'm not going to pretend I've got their system figured out yet but they seem to have a lot of opportunities to pick up extra pay whether it's for being on call or easily lots of overtime. I'm just looking for part time.
Just wanted to say that Olympic Ambulance has been treating great. Great training with people that even gave me their personal numbers and said call any time with any questions. But it's a lot of training they try to cram into one month. They're hiring right now too.
Thanks for the tips guys. That's one thing that I was told was that the pay isn't great at the basic or medic level but the experience from all the patient contact will be worth it.
Wow thanks that was a very helpful thread. My end goal would be with a fire department and I live out in the boondocks but would prefer working in the king county or areas that size. I didn't realize that paramedics were paid so little at the independent ambulance services though. Kinda...
I'm a volunteer with a local fire department but it's s small district with few calls. I'm still kinda on the fence since its a career change, right now I'm a diesel mechanic and I'm concerned about the job market on the western part of the state for paramedics.
Hey everyone, I'm an EMT-B and I'm looking into the Tacoma Community College paramedic program. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it this year or next but I was just looking for advice or opinions.
