Falck shuts Lifestar NJ bases in Totowa and Edison

As a Mississipian, I'm more than disturbed by the day-to-day politics re: the EMS operations of New York and New Jersey.

    Just passed the Registry

Again, yes, listen more. Listen, listen, listen. But NEVER, EVER, EVER TALK LESS!!! If you have a question, ask it. NEVER, EVER fail to ask a question or state where you thought one thing and your paramedic partner did another, why did that happen? If you are a basic and your paramedic partner...

    Just passed the Registry

Congratulations! I start orientation for my first EMS job Feb 3. Forget that guy. Listen, yes. Ask all the time. Never EVER let anyone who has more "experience" than you tell you to stop learning and asking questions. The day you meet someone that knows it all is the day you met someone to avoid.

What does Paragod mean to you

As a 40yr old, who has spent 20 years in medicine, but became a basic 3 weeks ago, and who looks forward to working a while w/hopes to become a paramedic within the next 18mos, a "paragod" is one of those EMT-B's or Paramedics who is too good to answer your questions. Just like a doctor that...

    Results of nremt

Relax. Get some sleep. Check again in the morning. If it didn't go well, take some time to study up and try again. Don't psyche yourself out. Whether you take it once or 5 times, nobody will know except you, your wallet and whoever you tell.

Log into your account at NREMT.org. If there's a REG# under your name in the upper left, you passed. If not, click on the red "check initial entry application status" link, and a box should pop up that'll tell you whether the test has been scored or still processing. They told me as I leaving it...

Thanks. That was the easy part. The big test is passing the job interview in the morning & getting started! I appreciate everyone's input.

Odd(?) Question: Where does an MI begin/

All I know is we were told throughout the class we had to make 71 or higher to pass. I got in the car, did the math, calmed down b/c I knew I hadn't missed that many, & felt even better when I got a registry # 3 hrs later.

Odd(?) Question: Where does an MI begin/

Basic math. My test was right at 70 questions. 70% of 70 is 49. So, I could miss roughly 20 questions and pass. The administrator said not to freak out if it cuts off around 70, because most everyone gets 70ish, unless they're the lucky 125th person that gets the whole test regardless. Guy in my...

Odd(?) Question: Where does an MI begin/

Really, my first answer when they asked me was, "That's not going to be in the test. It doesn't make any sense." Then the one told me it was on her test. They were asking, because she just guessed at it. I told 'em be one of the 20 she can miss and still pass. I just thought maybe someone out...

Odd(?) Question: Where does an MI begin/

Two of us who have just passed the NREMT-B at the first of the month are trying to help a third classmate study to take hers. I got the 70 questions, done. The other got the full 120, and she said they asked the following: In what part of the heart does an MI begin? The options were the 4...

Help! Need advice between two job choices!

The timing kind of sucks, but all you can do is be patient and wait for the chips to fall where they may. If you get an interview for the EMT position while you're waiting for a call-back from logistics, go interview. Let them know in that interview that you're at the same point in the process...

    need boot recs

You might also try to find someplace that sells 'em buy one, get one 1/2-off and go ahead and get 2 pairs. Then he can switch 'em out every week, and they'll both last longer. I started doing that a few years ago, and even my old shoes and boots can pass for a couple months old if I take a...

    A&P at the cellular level

Anatomy is what the organs/tissues are and where they're located. Physiology is what the organs/tissues do and how they do it. EVERYTHING they do is on a cellular level. You are a big ol' clump of cells. You breathe/eat/drink to feed the cells. You breathe/crap/pee to rid the cells of waste...
