I’ve worked hard to squash any kind of “pumped” feeling prior to or going on any calls. IMO, it only contributes to tunnel vision. Plus, if you make contact with a patient in an “amped up” state you run the risk of agitating the patient creating unnecessary additional anxiety.
Starting for EMT-B here is $9.50hr.
I work seven days on and seven days off, 1900-0700 (84 hrs wk). Overtime every pay period. I also get night and weekend differential.
Completley disregard the above post, there was a disconnect in information provided. The licensing of Paramedics in Indiana appears to not be completley in place as of yet. The current status appears only to have been signed by the Speaker of the House.
In addition, the new House Bill, is...
Due to the fact I have not found any concrete announcements of the passing of House Bill No. 1052, disregard the above post for now. However, word is out from some who should know that it has passed. When I find it for sure, I will share.
This Bill had passed in Indiana! Paramedics are now licensed instead of certified!
I am sorry for the old article; I am looking for an article that announces the passing of this Bill.

I would strongly advise to enlist in the military. If the field of EMS is where you want to go after the military, then go in to be a medic. However, when you get back into the civilian world military medic will not be recognized as a medic. Albeit, you will have the experience and the...
@ Veneficus Bravo and well said sir!
@ johnrsemt Thus the need to consider all situations on a case by case basis, instead of a “fry them all” just because they fall under a certain category.
Na, wouldn’t bother me, had my own sales company, so I am familiar with making great money. To be honest, I don’t know what an Audio Engineer is. Have an idea, but not sure.
Not complaining about my pay, especially since I took a pay cut to enter this field. However, (and no disrespect) I don’t think one has much ground to say anything about pay when they don’t have to endure the same cost of living as a normal adult. Just saying. :glare:
If you were granted to say anything you wanted to patients without any form of consequences, what would it be?

A firefighter activated two fire departments to respond to a possible structure fire, after getting home to a house full of smoke.
His last words over the airwaves;
Firefighter-“Firebase, XXXX”
Firebase-“Go ahead XXXX”
Firefighter-“Disregard all responding units, it was just my damn...
Not sure if this is a response to my post specifically, toward the OP, or just in general. Considering it is after mine, I will assume you are asking me.

Absolutely! Anyone who has been doing this...
Ok, I must respectfully say that you are contradicting yourself here and I will explain why. But first, I do agree with the fact that there must be consequences for assaulting EMS personnel and they should be enforced. However, this should be on a case by case basis maybe even left up to the EMS...
Some ambulance services may let you do a ride along if you ask and explain why. A good way to get a feel for EMS is maybe considering a volunteer fire service, though it is not exactly like working an ambulance. I suggest that because, one will either hate it or love it. There really is not an...
