    App suggestions

Hey all, I am going to be getting an Android based phone later this month and was wondering if there are any good EMS Apps for it? I currently have all of my EMS apps on my iTouch, but would be willing to move them all to my phone if I can find similar or better ones. Thanks for the input.

    Training with Boussignac CPAP?

Ok, I know this is an old thread, but I gotta say that this learning site, was great! The EMS module, which was for ETCO2 was perfect for breaking it down and explaining it. Thanks for the link!

I am in the process of updating a precepting power point and am looking for a background or template that is significantly more interesting than the all white background it is on now. Does anyone have or know where I can get something free? Thanks for the help

    Drug Bag/Box

I was wondering about their cost though. How are the Pelican boxes compared to the cost of the soft sided bags? How about ease of cleaning?

    LMA vs Dual lumen airway

We use the LMA's here in Southern NJ. I am not fond of them but they are nice to have when we are unable to intubate someone. They should have to be used less though now as we are now carrying the buge to help facilitate in the difficult intubations.

    What the...?

All interesting thoughts, and I am in agreement with the ischemic stroke thought. The bleed would show up immediately as long as it was in the field that they were looking. The ischeminc stroke damage won't show until 24-48 hours later. There are some cases where it is actually 72 hours...

Physio Control LUCAS Chest Compression System

I am not a fan of these devices unless you are on a Critical Care Transport and are in the back by yourself. This would free you up to bag the patient or administer meds. My personal feeling is that we shouldn't be transporting these patient's unless we have had a positive change. Otherwise...

    Drug Bag/Box

Thanks for not hammering me. I normally do try to search, but was in a rush, and not thinking clearly. Anyway, thanks for the info guys. I am working off of a copy of a Plano 6103 or 6233 not sure which, and I am looking for other options. I know there are a lot out there, and thought I...

    Drug Bag/Box

I am on my department's inventory committee and am looking at downsizing from our current bag to something much lighter and more manageable, but carries the same amount of items. I would like to know what you are all carrying. Thanks for the input.

    ET Intubation

The big reason behind this is, in my opinion, is this. Most hospitals are going to a pay to play type of system for the doctors. What does this mean? It means that for everything a doctor does, ie. intubate, chest tube, whatever, they get paid for it. Since intubations are common and fairly...

    diff in paramedic and intermediate

It is so easy to get these hours. In NJ we are required to do more than 440 hours in about a year. We have a year of class time and depending on where you are getting that depends on whether or not you can start your clinical time in the second half. If not then you have 2 years to get your...

    Smear campaign against paramedics

Don't you just love it. Here we are trying to become more noticed as professionals and this doink writes a story about some of us making us look like theives. This goes right along with the discussion in the scumbag alert thread.

Scumbag Alert - North Carolina Medic Charged with Soliciting Sex from Patient

The reason is this, when someone gets caught with this type of infraction, the law allows us to say "I have a problem and need help". Once this is done, by law, you are safe from losing your job, and the employer has to get you the help you are requesting. They are unable to take any action...

Scumbag Alert - North Carolina Medic Charged with Soliciting Sex from Patient

This is not much different from the Medic down there that got busted for taking morphine out of the vials and replacing it with water. He did the same thing in Jersey got fired from the company he was working for, then got rehired. He not shortly after that moved to North Carolina and...

    NASCAR Crash

Here is my two cents on this one. First of all NASCAR has a policy that if your car is unable to be driven back to the pit stall or garage then you HAVE to go to the infield care center for treatment. Now how this works when there is only testing going on at the track I am not entirely sure...
