I am no longer in public safety. I was a fireighter/emt for 8yrs and am still state licensed, I have a coworker who is a full time firefighter/first responder for the county in which I usually work. If by happenstance we are first on a medical call then who is "in charge" I am not clear as to...
Amtran & UMR are the only ones on this list that use Basics. This is because they do not do 911 calls. The rest it is a minimum of EMT Intermediate. I do not even think that the Region 1 EMS office allows basics to work 911 trucks.

NW GA which is Region 1 where Basics aren't allowed to work on any transport rigs. When I was taking NR Practicals I did however meet some Basics from Middle/South GA that was allowed to work out of a rig for a FD. They informed me that private companies down there also used Basics for...
When asked if I am good at something or if I have done it before I answer "No but I did watch a video about it once".
As far as IV I sometimes answer "Don't worry I use to stick myself all the time...."
Just finished up an EMT-I course & my instructor informed registry will be using the old way until sometime in 2012 when they start testing the new EMT-A..
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am currently an EMT-I student in N. GA. have less than 3 months of class left & just started my clinical internship. I have been a volunteer firefighter & EMR for almost 5yrs now & have noticed I really enjoy the medical side of public safety more than I do...
