    Volunteer Work O.C./S.D. Areas?

I know the local hospitals are always looking for volunteers. With that said you wont technically be an "EMT" but i'm sure once you get to know people you will be a vital member in the ER.

Ah yes, another San Diego Thread! (But a Medic this time!)

Well I would throw an app in with mercy air, the only set back is you may have to take a job in another county before transferring to San Diego

Ah yes, another San Diego Thread! (But a Medic this time!)

I have heard of AMR slowly hiring medics and putting people through. It's not fast by any means but faster then Rural metro. There is Mercy Paramedics, but to get hired there is harder then rural metro. How many years did you spend in your last system?? If you have more than 3 years in a busy...

    EMT-I training in southern california

San Diego County is working hard to implement the Advanced EMTs. Right now there is no actual class planned. I believe EMSTA will be the pilot training center when in fact the medical directors and higher ups figure out who and what they want to certify. The talk is IM drugs IV access is still...

Are San Diego City Paramedics Making Too Much?

FDs are hiring just not the way they used to. They used give anyone with a Pcard a job. Now its just competitive. So you have to be a marketable person and build your resume and better yourself in the fireside as well as the medical side. To think that all firefighters are over being medics is a...

    NaHCo3 and Atropine in PEA

Hey Guys just reviewing the new San Diego COunty ALS protocol updates. It appears that they took out Atropine and NaHCo3 from our PEA protocol. Does anyone see why this would be beneficial? I'm a little worried about the Hs and Ts, and could see the use of Bicarb beneficial in many codes...

    Arming EMT's and Paramedics

I could definitely see why people would want to protect themselves, just like you would do at your own private residence, but at the same time there is really nothing to personally protect at the station or at work I can see. If they want the Narcs, ambulance, or radios they can have it! I'm not...

Not sure if you read my original post. but you might wanna give it a once over so we can stay on track here. I never stated my school had taught me that any presence of an intoxicant indicated impairment to make sound medical decisions. In-fact I have not mention my schooling once? I...
