In Canada we're obligated to stop, unless of course that puts your current patient at risk. I can't imagine being in EMS and NOT stopping. I'd probably end my career that day if that happened.
Do you want to continue to work in EMS?
1. Why? (seriously... why)
2. Decide how much you want to invest in a career. You won't get much of a pay raise mind you.
3. Go into nursing instead.
I don't think anyone misunderstood you. You were very clear with what you said - you'd rather punish people for OD. It's fine - people have a right to their opinions.
The emergency vehicle expectations are clearly VERY different in Canada than the US based on these 2 replies alone.
Backing up and pulling across all those lanes seems ridiculous to me as a driver of a civilian vehicle and a licensed emergency vehicle driver of 5 years.
I've got some...
It's the whole ego thing. "I'M the hero here!" rings a bell. EMS assuming other people don't know how to stab someone with a needle and press down - as if it's some sort of incredibly complex medical procedure that ONLY licensed people could ever use or get.
It'd be good if people got over...
Last night my wife and I were on our way to dinner in Cerritos, California when a fire engine lit up about 3 lights behind us. We were at a red light in the left of 3 through lanes, so I hit my hazards and sat tight.
The engine came up behind us blaring the angry horn then moved into the left...
Just a note - check with the school to see if they will take an online class as well. There are a lot of them that won't accept the "credential" or course credit as sufficient.
Hey all,
I'd love to borrow or buy your gently used copy of Mosby's Paramedic Textbook 4th edition. I've signed up for Medictests which sounded great, but the material is very scattered with no standard formatting and doesn't suit my learning style at all.
Let me know if you'd be willing to...
Find the holes in your studying. Decide what makes you a poor test taker and focus on fixing those gaps. I couldn't retain information when I studied until my Paramedic instructor sat me down and explained how he learned. Once he did that my entire brain opened up and I went from scoring in the...
Hey all, I have a few questions that I was hoping you may be able to assist me with.
I am going to be writing my Paramedic soon in TX. The part that I am most unsure about is the Psychomotor because my training was in Canada and I am sure there are differences in expectations and training...
All states seem to train differently and everywhere has different rules and standards. Is CA a goo state to train in to be sufficiently (preferably exceedingly) trained to pass all aspects of nremt?
Great idea, thank you.
I am going to PA for my paramedic training next year and don't really want to incur a boot camp emt-b expense or take several months to do the B. It just doesn't make sense considering I've already done it.
Hey folks. I am a BC/Alberta registered EMR looking to take my NREMT EMT-B. Is there any way for me to do this? Will nremt recognize my EMR certificate/licensure from Canada? I'd like to avoid having to take an EMT-B course considering I have covered the content already.
Your...
Hey, glad it's helping people.
Suggestions: Calm down
How did it go: It was so easy it was a joke in retrospect and yes I did pass. :D
In reality, study AB safety protocols. I got something like a 20% on that section. Things like which emergency vehicles have the right of way. Or which parts...
