No our cots are powered by gerbils in little wheels. Seriously though, we have mechanical cots that have a couple of buttons to raise/lower the wheels. Requires very little strength on our part.

There is no rule about sleeping, but there is ZERO down time between runs. They are often sent on transports of 10+ hours. As soon as they drop off one patient they are sent to pick up another.

Around here we are fire based so if you are an EMT, its a career, the money is great. In terms of only being an EMT (private companies), no way is that a career. Those guys only make like $14/hr and they work 24 hour shifts where they are not allowed to sleep.

Im thinking that i have plantar fasciitis, basically SEVERE arch pain. Not sure how long it will take to recover. Having trouble walking, let alone running. EDIT: Pain scale is a 3.

Im sure each county handles injuries differently, but what typically happens if somebody has a minor injury during/just prior to the fire academy? I know that major injuries often lead to a recruit being dropped, but are they a little more understanding about sprains and the like?

It will be an uphill battle for you, but its absolutely possible. The failure rate for females taking the CPAT is very high around here, but ive seen some smaller gals kill it. Upper body strength is the name of the game. With proper training you will be fine.
