Nature Coast EMS Citrus County, FL

I am reopening this thread as I am also interested in Nature Coast. I see that they have listed on their website that they are looking for EMT and Paramedic volunteers. What is the scoop on that?

2 days left until NREMT, seeking advice

Congrats to the OP for passing. I soon will be taking the NREMT exam for Paramedic. I have been using medictests.com to help me prepare. But I noticed on their tests there are very few questions about drugs and none (that I have seen yet) on drug calculations. I am guessing drugs and drug...

    Recprocity in Florida

A co-worker of mine moved to FL and he had his NREMT-B. Despite the fact that FL uses the NREMT written exam as our state certification, he still had to retake the NREMT written exam portion and pay all the associated fees. I know he had to pay for the actual test and possibly a small fee to...

Anybody ever used EMTQuiz.com to study for NREMT-B?

Hello everyone. Paramedic student here. In my class we are pretty much done with the book portion of the class and are doing our clinicals and field experience. Which of the study programs (JBLearning, FISDAP, etc.) does everyone recommend for me to use for the next 5 months until I take my...

    19 year old chest pain.

Good thing I didn't say it "Can't really hurt". I said it won't hurt him. The age is not a contraindication.

    19 year old chest pain.

I would give him Aspirin. It won't hurt him as long as he isn't allergic. Per protocol where I work: Call for ALS, Administer Aspirin, Administer Oxygen. Of course absent any contraindications.

Lenior Community College EMS-Paramedic hybird program

Just to add what I learned while researching attending Lenoir for paramedic- I had been looking into them for about 1 1/2 years. I live in Florida and last I heard, about 4 months ago, there are no clinical sites available in FL. The issue, I was told by Lenoir, is not that they have not been...

Going to be starting EMT-B Certification this Fall

Like Desert said, get your textbook and start reading it. In the mean time it wouldn't hurt to get copies of the Skills Assessment from the NREMT website if your state requires you to take the National Registry. Don't worry about knowing them word for word, just look over them. The Skills...

    NREMT-EMT Recert Question

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions about re-certification for NREMT-EMT. 1) In a few months I need to start the process for re-cert for my EMT. When I took the EMT class originally one of the instructors stated that if we decided to go to paramedic school we could count paramedic...

    Best paramedic text?

I just got the list of books I will need for paramedic class. Our main text will be Brady's Paramedic Care: Principles and Practice. Anyone had any luck with this set? Our instructor has decided he wants us to use the digital books. I believe it is a total of 22 books. Personally I do...

Do you get paid in paramedic training? (clinical hours?)

When I did my EMT we definitely did not get paid. However our preceptor on the truck got paid. It was always the paramedic on the truck we were riding on that day and he got paid $1.00 extra an hour. I am having to work full time while doing paramedic school and worked full time while doing...

    paramedic class.

I have been an EMT for a year and when I start paramedic school in August it will be a year and two months. I volunteer about 5x a month on an emergency BLS rig and work full time on a BLS transport rig. Some people decide that they want to go straight into paramedic school after they complete...

    Drugs best way to memorize?

I believe their goal is to kind of weed out the people who aren't serious about the class and studying. I think they also want us to have a decent familiarity with them before we start the class that way we will be familiar with them when we cover them in class.

    Drugs best way to memorize?

Hello everyone, I start medic school in August. I have been sent a list of meds I have to know by Day 1 of the class for a test. We will be given a blank chart and must list all 26 meds, their class, packaging, description, mechanism of action, indications, contraindications precautions, side...

Anyone rocking a Ambo like this for regular 911 calls?

My company uses the one below for out of state transports. Real nice unit. It has a flat screen t.v. in the back for the pt to watch during transport....we also take EVOC in it. 'Kind of funny. We test in the one above but BLS units drive the vanbulances on a regular basis.

Recommendations for someone starting Paramedic soon

Hello everyone, I have my NREMT-Basic but am considering starting Paramedic school in next 4-5 months. Any recommendations on what I should do to better prepare myself? Any good books you recommend I read? Thanks.

How soon after Your emt class did you take the nremt b?

I took mine about a month after I finished the class. I would have taken it sooner but I had to wait for the school to send the paperwork to the state...and then for the state to send the paperwork to NREMT to be eligible. Then I had to take time off of work to actually take the test. I highly...

    Paramedic School Without Accreditation Question

I think I may have found the answer in one of their newsletters: Graduating from a program that’s not accredited means you won’t be eligible to take the NREMT national paramedic certification exam. Without national certification, your job opportunities will be greatly reduced. The only way...
