Hello everyone,

I have my NREMT-Basic but am considering starting Paramedic school in next 4-5 months. Any recommendations on what I should do to better prepare myself? Any good books you recommend I read? Thanks.

I would hit A&P really hard. If you are able to understand what is going on to the patient you will understand how to help and the correct things to do for the patient. It will also help you identify landmarks for different skills (IV, IO, Intubation).

Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology and Microbiology courses would benefit you greatly. Some schools offer a "Paramedic Prep" course. Frankly the one I took was phenomenal. It went through some of the harder concepts in paramedic school like the chemistry behind acidosis/alkalosis or things like the role of calcium in muscle contraction. The depth of the prep course made paramedic much easier. Taking a medical terminology course, ECG interpretation course or pharmacology course would also help a lot.

I wouldn't really try to pre-learn things directly from your book.
