    Mutual Aid Equipment Use Policy?

This probably hasn't come up very often or maybe not at all, but does anybody have any specific policy in regards to medics/emt's using another department's equipment during mutual aid? For example, let's say you are on a call and all your ambulances are in use, so you call for mutual aid from...

    McCormick Paramedic

Seriously, what ever happened to all working as a team to make sure the patient receives the best care? Reminds me of my father's dialysis center. The nurses always treated the technicians like ****, because they have an RN on their shirt. As long as you are doing your job correctly, fabulous...

    Airway: Bad outcome

No doubt about the bias in the article. I feel terrible for the family and the medical staff involved. I'm curious as to why the family didn't know about the CRNA/ anesthesiologist leaving before the operation. Everytime I or my father has had a procedure, the anesthesiologist, doctor and any...

    Intoxicated refusals w/ trauma

And you know that doctor who "forced" them to come in when they didn't want/need to sure isn't picking up their bill!

Any interesting anecdotes about interference with patient care from a CNA, lifegurad, etc.?

This thread kind of reminds me of an episode of "Bondi Beach Rescue" in Australia. Lifeguards pulled a man out of the water in full arrest, started compressions and bagging. An anestheiologist happened to be watching, identified himself and told them politely to bag a bit slower (he was 8ft...

    Ambulnz NYC

From a patient perspective, terrible company. The few employees our family talked to didn't like them or their management that much either. A lot of excuses, problems and few solutions.

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

Yes. Yes and so was fire. They did exactly what you said, they told the officer they were treating patients and the officer said he didn't care about the patients and to move. The FF captain explained in the deposition that they saw the ambulance 50% into the #1 lane, so they positioned their...

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

Just noticed the year. Nope, born in 1963. Can't figure out how to change it either. Edit: Just saw I have to contact an administrator to change the year. Doing so now.

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

Directly from the Lawsuit/Judge: Based on these statutes, management of the scene of an emergency vests in the CHP officers while patient health care management in an emergency vests in the paramedics/EMTs. Management of the scene requires the CHP officers to consult "with representatives of...

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

If you were in the middle of treating a patient, you would just let the patient be and leave?

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

By law, CHP is in charge however while reading the lawsuit documents, they must consult with EMS/Fire before making a decision. The problem with the crew just leaving, is that they were actively helping a patient. Can you go from holding C-Spine on a patient and trying to load them on a gurney...

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

No problem, you are certainly entitled to your opinion as everyone is. I think it was proven by the judge and witnesses that the traffic being blocked was actually necessary.

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

I'm sure they had run ins in the past with each other because this normally wouldn't happen out of the blue. The engineer/FF in question was rendering direct patient care, so it's not like he can just jump up and move the rig, especially when your holding c-spine and preparing to transfer the...

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

You might want to read the second link I put up there. The FF was actually holding C-Spine and actively caring for the patient per himself, his other firefighters and witnesses. The CHP officer also was reported to say that he "didn't care about the patients, and he wanted the engine moved".

    FireFighter Arrested by CHP. Thoughts?

This story/incident is almost 3rys old, but after commenting on another thread, I was asked to create a new thread of this incident to see people's thoughts. There was a car accident on the freeway and Chula Vista Fire Department and an ambulance responded. The Engineer parked the fire engine...

Officer goes hands on on medic on scene.

There are plenty of things that can happen to a body cam, agreed. I do build/fix computers, surveillance cameras and networking on the side, so I know about data and technology quite well. Sounds like you are an honest person, which is what this world needs more of. One of my old managers always...

Officer goes hands on on medic on scene.

No need for me to create a thread on it, thanks for the suggestion though. The main reason I was putting that story out there was, probably like this story, the 2 departments(police + ems) will get together, talk and ultimately improve their relationships, trying to put this story behind them.

Officer goes hands on on medic on scene.

I don't know if anyone was filming before the cop/medic incident happened. Most Police Departments won't release Body Cams that fast, especially if there is a pending investigation. Unfortunately, I have seen and heard many times where a department "loses" footage or says the bodycam wasn't...
