Federally Mandated Minimum Wage for EMTs and Paramedics Petition

I absolutely agree. I'm thankful that I went to a school who requires above the normal for class time and clinicals. I feel like I'm more prepared than some of the other schools around my area, who only require 20 patient contacts. I'm also planning on getting my A.S. in Emergency Medicine. It...

Federally Mandated Minimum Wage for EMTs and Paramedics Petition

If Obama was able to sign an Executive Order for minimum wage for contract workers (2014), why would he lack the authority to do the same for EMS workers?

What does your significant other do?

He's in culinary school. The real challenge will come with I actually get hired onto an agency. Hopefully it doesn't scare him off.

is an expensive stethescope worth it?

I started with a cheap $10 stethoscope from CVS and couldn't hear crap during my clinicals and was often having to borrow the stethoscopes of the EMTs/Medics I was riding with. Soon as my Financial Aid deposited, I went out and bought the Lithman Classic, and I've very glad I did so. The...

Still haven't received my National certificate?

Thank you. That seems like what happened. My classmate contacted NREMT and had her package changed from printing it off herself to having them mail it to her. I'm not sure if I should do the same. Does it even matter if it's on official paper with the seal or not?

Thank you! I used LC Ready. Also, there is a woman named Dr. Marjorie Bowers who does a NREMT review class. It's $80 for the class but totally worth it. I can give you her e-mail if you would like, so you can contact her and see if she if she's doing any of these classes near you.

Stethoscope, more of a symbol than a tool

I started out with a cheap stethoscope from CVS when I began EMT school. I quickly found out that it was pretty much useless in the back of a moving ambulance. The ones stocked in the Thomas packs were no better. Auscultating lung sounds was impossible for me. I had no other choice but to invest...

Still haven't received my National certificate?

That's what I thought. A classmate received hers all together. Yet another classmate and I both received the letter and patch, but no certificate.

    EMS and Relationships

Judging your character by this topic, the girl probably is better off. Here's best wishes to her in finding a better relationship than the one she didn't have with you.

Still haven't received my National certificate?

It's been two weeks since I have taken and passed the NREMT. I received a congrats letter from National along with a patch, and I've received my Florida certificate and card. I'm still waiting on my National certificate. I thought it was suppose to be mailed in 3 business days? Should I contact...

How long did it take for your results to post?

I took mine on a Friday at 17:00, so I unfortunately had to wait until Monday morning to find out my results. It was nerve wracking.

    EMT - B Isn't this abnormal 3 1/2 months

We had four hour lectures every week, and the power points were mostly from the book. I graduated the program on the Dean's list, so I think I did pretty well.

    Commuting over a time zone?

Does anyone commute over a time zone? How do you deal with the time difference and not being late for work? I recently applied for a position that is in another time zone. It's not the idea situation, but I'm desperate to get out in the field and get some experience. It's a 2 hour driving...

Honestly, I opened that book like twice, at most. I wish I hadn't spent the money on it.

Wow. It seems like my program is the abnormal one. Haha.

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

Took it Friday. Stopped at 64 questions. I won't know until Monday or Tuesday if I passed or failed. When I walked out of there, I was not feeling good about it at all due to the fact I finished so quickly (30-45 mins). Ended up having a panic attack in my car and I've been an anxious mess all...

    Vegetarians?

I can definitely take a cooler and store it in one of the outside compartments. I've seen others do it. I was just looking for ideas of things to take with me, besides salad, that doesn't need warming up. (Also not hired on yet, but I definitely plan on taking lunch with me to save money) When...
