EMT-B/BLS care is there a point??

Alright Rid. i agree with you on about 98% of the things you say. But... You're being a bit arrogant here. you're saying one thing, and say you mean another. The minute you start to devalue those around you, the sooner you get left in the dark. All by yourself.

    Gay in EMS?

This has nothing to do with your geographcal locale. This is not directed towards you, but I get sick of the "Southern", or " Bible Belt" is different culture. I am a native Texan. I have a family cattle ranch in South Texas. I have grown up in Houston, the 4th largest City in the U.S. in an...

    PHI AirMED 12 crashes...6/8/08

I recieved word of the crash mere hours after it happened. I knew Jana, and Wayne on a professional level, and am deeply saddenned by their passing. The whole med 12 base is filled with people who exude an emmence energy for life, and happiness for their careers. And I mourn along with the rest...

Crew Members Under 18 / High School Age Members

Ok. The young ones on here keep repeating themselves, and it's irritating. This is a PROFESSION, a CAREER, a LIVELYHOOD. Period! It is NOT as R/R has said over and over. A hobby, something cool, bragging rights, and a part time cheap thrill. You are dealing with peoples lives, and...

Crew Members Under 18 / High School Age Members

Where are we allowing these children to "perform" EMTWhaker? I agree with R/R, and Flight-LP. EMS is NOT a place for children. If we continue to allow such faggotry to occure, and prostitute our profession to anyone with a pulse regardless of age, the monicre of "Ambulance Driver" will...

    Monitors

Both services I work for Use the Zoll M Series Cardiac Monitor. I love it. It's the best one out there as far as I'm concerned. I've used LP 5, LP 12, Marquette, and Phillips. The Zoll M is just a superior machine.

    GPS on the Ambulance

My part time service has gps maps integrated into the MDT's in the trucks, which are fed off of the GIS data from the CAD. It is helpfull, but people rely too heavily on it, and screw themselves in the end. My full time service does not have GPS in the trucks. Many of us who have our own...

    Stryker Pro series

We have had them on all trucks in my service for about 2 years now. They are a god send. I have heard people from other services whine about the 40 extra pounds they weigh... get over it. I tell ya what. If you dont want the extran 40 pounds, Ill give you one of the old school aluminum ferno...

    ambulance driving

The State of Texas does not require a person to have a special liscense to drive an Ambulance. A Simple "Class C" or normal non-commercial drivers liscense is sufficient. The State of Texas does not require a special permit to drive a Fire Apparattus [B][U]EMERGENCY TRAFFIC TO A CALL[U][B]...

How many lights is too many?

Here we go. ... I guess Im just in a bad mood today. To those of you who are doing the whole "not this thread again, and the whole use the search feature" ... Shut IT! New people bring new perspectives to the table. If you are so tired of reading the same type of conversation... THEN STOP...

Thankyou for the welcome. Ive noticed you like pointing this feature out to new people. And many thanks for the search tool. However I think new posts reveal new opinions as well.

    Personal Defense.

In the past I have worked in service areas that are "socio-economically challenged" ridden with crime, gangs, drugs, prostitutes, and criminals. The majority of calls in that area were assaults, shootings, stabbings, rapes, etc. The potential for physical harm the myself and partner was...

    Ear piercings

Both the 911 services I work for are very progressive. And both are a little on the leanient side as far as piercings go. There are several males at both services that wear earrings, and not much is said. They however do frown on toungue rings. I have both of my ears pierced, but havent worn...

    Automatic blood pressure cuffs...

Nibp I think all are in agreement that Manual BP's are the way to go. NIBP's are for the most part innacurate, and only decent for trending. HOWEVER that being said, not all Monitors are created equal. This is one more of those cases where the more expensive the equipment, the more...

    Would You Tell

I think you would be wise to make it practice to wear gloves on every call. Im all about pt. compassion, but my safety, and my partners safety supercede the pt's feelings. I have yet to have someone get offended by me wearing gloves on a call. It is my services policy that all personnell...

AMR returns expired patient to home.

Im not entirely clear on the policy's in other states. I am aware that other services in the north do transport to funeral homes. If I am to rely totaly on the liberal spin the media put on this article, and take it as gospel, the pt. died in the back of the ambulance. Which would note that...

AMR returns expired patient to home.

Media twist? I find it hard to believe that this story is showing the entire course of events. I'm led to believe that the media has undoubtedly put there twist on, and intentinally deleted events to make the crew out to be the bad guy. That being said, My sympathy's to the family. I...
