    Do I tell The Boss?

IMHO... A couple things to keep in mind. 1. I personally didnt find the joke offensive, but I've been at this game for a while, not much ruffles my feathers. 2. Be that as it may, I wouldnt have told the joke. 3. However silly the joke may have been, Her actions were way beyond out of line. I...

More Responsible: Assigned or Random Rigs?

We are all assigned to a station, each station has a truck. There are 4 shifts therefore 8 people regularly use that truck. However we have reserve units that are put into use when the truck goes in for pm, or other reasons. For the frontline trucks thats 10 24 hr trucks, and 4 peak hour...

    5.11 Tactical Pants?

I have to side with Flight-LP on this one yet again . You will not find a better, more comfortable pair of pants. I have them in Black, blue, and khaki. They all fade over time, but all pants fade over time. Buy them... you will be happy with them.

    Stethoscope Advice

Geez.... Shears for 8 years? Either you dont use them very often, or they need to be replaced. Shears dont usually last but about two pairs of jeans, or a leather jacket. Littman Master Cardio. Used to have a Littman Classic II, The acoustical difference is unimaginable. Its not about the...

What do you carry? - The mega thread

You guys like to load down with too much stuff. Wallet. Truck Keys, Cell, Radio. Thats it!!! Dont carry shears, theyre on the truck, and in the jump bag. Either way they're already by me. Hemos and all that other stuff.... in the bag. If I need to have it, I let them buy it.

what do you do if you have downtime?

Depends on which station I'm at. Most of the time I avg. 13-20 calls a shift, so no time to do anything but fix people, and restock the truck. If Im at my other station, I usually avg. 1-4 calls a shift, so a LOT of T.V. watching, and the occasional nap.

    Etoh?

Karaya you are poingnant as ever! A pt's attitude should never sway your bedside manner. Morals and ethics kids ... As to the original thread ... Why the HeKK are we even discussing this? Common sense cmon! Are you sure he was drunk? Did you draw blood and do labwork? Are you sure he wasn't...

Should every ambulance have a portable radio?

Common sense folks. Cell phone is never as good as radio. It's a SAFETY issue. I have not, do not, nor will I EVER work for an agency that doesnt give me a handheld radio. The Agency I work for full time has a mobile radio in the front of the truck, a mobile radio in the module, each crew...

    Full Arrest

Sorry , Im just in a mood. Firefighters are NEVER useless. Almost all of them are willing to help. In the land that you live in, all of your calls might go perfectly, but Ive yet to see an arrest (in ten years) that hasnt required SOMETHING extra out of the truck. Bad code? What if your...

    Full Arrest

A Couple things Im curious about. I work for several large 911 agencies, and am affiliated with a large air medical provider. None of the Air medical providers that I know of will transport an active arrest. If the pt arrests in the air, thats a different story, but don't know of one that...

    Ambo Daycare center

I preffer not to take any passengers in my ambulance in the first place. But IF I had to take someones seed on the truck, I would prefferably use the car seat, secondly the inflatable one we carry, and thirdly just tied around the rear wheel with I.V. tournaquettes.

    emt under 21?

I work for 2 large urban 911 agencies. Neither will hire you under the age of 23. Nor will they hire you with no experience. An EMT-B that cannot drive will find it very difficult to find emplyment. Thats one of the core functions of a basic. My reccomendation is for her to either work in...

    Gay in EMS?

Your basing your views of the gay people in general on the media exposure of a few. You think gays are all about "parades", and little symbols, and rainbow flags? If this is the case ( which Im sure you are going to stand right back up on your soap box like you always do) and say thats not what...

How long should you be a basic before taking medic class

I think its a prefference thing. Theres good and bad to both ways. Either way just make sure you pass and get your patch. Otherwise it would be a waste of time. Jaded? ?HA! Whoever heard of a jaded medic?

EMT-B/BLS care is there a point??

Here you go making presumptions again. You presume that just because I state that Im educated beyond my patch that I dont recognize my clinical boundaries. My clinical boundaries are what frustrates me, and thus why we further our education, and our clinical certifications. I do not, nor will I...

rid, your saying then, as a basoc it is impossible for me to know , or be educated outside of my skill set? the only thing i should do is first aide? it sounds to me like this is a situation where yoou feel like you are on a plateau above others. you have reminded us several times that you were...
