Practicing Rescue Breathing on Another Person

Sounds like the supervisor just wants to see something. I've never heard of even the idea of "Hey, can I practice on you?". Hopefully you can put a stop to it.

    HAZMAT

I guess I am confused on why we are saying drink milk when there is an NG tube in your tool box.

Can't say I have either. Do explain.

    MCI and Trauma?

Exactly this. The use of an MCI plan that may eventually escalate to the use of NIMS/ICS is the reason we don't spray patients around the area. This is totally area dependent, as just as you argue, some facilities simply can't handle certain patients or certain numbers. The whole "even...

    HAZMAT

And where it is supposed to be kept! Some other keys are parking location on a hazmat scene, where to stand, whether to use binocs or walk up to it, that kind of simple, awareness level stuff. Don't bog yourself down with chemicals. Understanding why CO isn't your friend is probably the most...

    Sternal rub... who's doing it?

    Completely agree. CYA all around.

    When?

I completely agree with the above that the ED clinical time is not a "must have" but only helps and certainly does no harm. Having background knowledge, even if it barely scratches the surface, of other aspects of the overall picture is a great way to have solid transitions of care, and keep...

people follow me and ask too much when I am wearing ems logo or writing on my clothing

Was the male EMT naked? I mean seriously. Its one thing to swap tech/driver for a 15 y/o on a heavy period so she can be more comfortable, but if your reason for being in the back is to babysit the male partner then there is another problem.

So I gotta ask, what is code 1? Transport in firetruck? :P

    worried about losing my license

If it was actually a stroke or MI or anything else that is at some point or another an emergency, then yeah, I'd hope it would be audited for the sake of the profession and well being of all patients. That said, you know what you did and didn't document, and you know there is nothing further you...

    worried about losing my license

I'm assuming code 2 is non-emergent in your system? I don't see the issue with transporting an altered x1 week patient non-emergent. If there was once a time-dependent emergency, the damage is already long done. If the story is as you describe it, it sounds like the negligence is on the nursing...

As a 3, 5, or 10 year old? Its one thing to sign up for ride-outs or be an Explorer, but its a whole other thing to be dragged along by your parent.

Getting hired as an EMT under 21 years old?

I got on an IFT truck at 19, then in the ED. After I got that job (which I plan to keep during undergrad) I finally heard back from AMR and Acadian offering an interview, which I declined because I had what I wanted. As well, I know multiple 19 and 20 year olds from my class that got in at...

    First job before EMS?

First real job was steward at a golf club for a year. As well, worked contracts throughout high school as an athletic training student. Went to EMT school the summer before undergrad. Did IFT my first spring semester then got on at an ED. Middle of undergrad for AT now.

What do you do with your ring(s)?

Fair enough. Rock or no rock, any rings can rip up your gloves or make your patient wonder what hidden mystery is touching them.

First Time E.M.T. (When can he ride?)

Now that I think about it, I got my job once I had my license number, but I suppose I didn't actually work on the truck until I had the physical card. That kind of thing surely varies by state, since its a state license. Best bet is to call the state. Then of course, the chief (and/or medical...
