    CE's for EMT-Basic CoCoCounty California

Good Gravy Granny!! :o  $420 for the class!! *DFO's* Sure is expensive to get into this field! And, from what I've heard, its not exactly gonna make you rich either. Good thing my certs don't expire till next year. I'll (hopefully) have built up some reserve money by then with which...

    CE's for EMT-Basic CoCoCounty California

Anyone know where I can find a list of CE providers that have been given the "OK" by Contra Costa County in NorCal? I have a BoundTree account, but I'm not sure if they are "recognized" by CoCoCounty. Any ideas? Thanks! (I was going to re-take the EMT-Basic class I took initially in order...

    Resume template?

:) (Please forgive me for necro-posting. This topic came up when I attempted to start a new thread.) I was wondering if it would behoove me to put down on my resume (BLS/IFT) that I have experience with assisting the physically impaired in the form of helping my friend who has...

The chart only refers to people and situations that didn't go your way. Nothing is said about the scientific use of the word. Same as its oft inappropriate to refer to a female human as a b:censored::censored::censored:h, but not inappropriate to use that term when referring to a female canine.

As far as I understand it, and I could be totally off-base here, the Good Samaritan law does not prohibit lawsuits being filed. It just protects the person who tries to help. We live in a society where, if a burglar breaks his leg while breaking into your home, he can sue YOU. And could...

Its just what the First Aid instructor said. Maybe the medicine didn't work and the person died. Then the family wants to sue the poor lay responder who tried to help. Who knows? And we live in a very lawsuit-happy society nowadays.

Chris~ wrapping the pt's hand around the pen was something I learned to do in a lay-person first aid class. It's a CYA matter for the lay-person. If something should go wrong, only the pt's fingerprints are on the epi-pen. I meant that the plunging into the thigh was what you're supposed...

Had a crazy dream last night. I dreamt that a married couple came up to my church for help. The woman said her husband had been stung by a bee and that he was allergic. I jumped right in to help, shouting orders. “Go call 911! Tell them we have a male in his mid 40′s suffering from...

If I recall correctly from my EMT class, in California, even if the pt is missing their head, EMTs/medics are not allowed to call a pt DOA. Only a doctor can do that. But I've never been on a scene like that, so I can't say for certain.

What to wear for care ambulance oc interview

LoL ... Three-quarter sleeves. The bane of my existence. Closed toe (dress) shoes. Hmmm ... Not so easy to find in a Ladies 14! :o I have some sandal-type flats, but all my other shoes (as well as most of my wardrobe) are men's. Surely you jest! I'm 10x as comfy in men's clothing as I...

What to wear for care ambulance oc interview

Been looking online for a nice blouse to wear for any (potential) interviews. Unfortunately, the plus-size pickings for women is not exactly what I'm looking for. This top truly illustrates the point, IMHO. I started looking in menswear for a short sleeve dress shirt I could wear. The...

Me and skirts/dresses really don't get along. I'm "fluffy," and whenever I wear a skirt/dress, I get what my mum lovingly refers to as "Rhumba Butt." Plus ... Its too ... ah ... "breezy." I think I still have my boring flats (only dressy shoes I own), and I'm not one for make up or...

I had a question about interview clothes as well. As a female, a three-piece suit isn't exactly hanging in my closet. I don't yet have any interviews pending, but its always good to be prepared! I thought about wearing my "work shirt" from the class I took, along with the standard...

What kind of underwear is best for EMS?

Have a question about socks. Seems like the proper place to post it. I am VERY prone to in-between-the-toes blisters when walking any distance over about a half mile, no matter what type of footwear I have on. I usually get blisters in-between my big toe and second toe, or between the second...
