    Need some help

Everyone makes mistakes. Dropped gurneys, collisions, and partners messing up patient movements/transfers. Part of the job. Though highly unlikely, you may be sued. You may be put on an action plan and lose your job. It happens. To be in EMS you have to be willing to learn from your...

What happened to Cypress Creek EMS?

They always seemed to be at the forefront of EMS. Axon bodycams, in-field blood work, strong education programs, the best equipment. Where did they go wrong?

Looking for a compact reliable Glucometer

I don't have personal experience but I'd likely get a $10 ReliOn tester at Walmart. The strips appear to be the most inexpensive.

Pre-shift anxiety for a new PCP

My experience is that work-related anxiety generally decreases with time. I was so anxious I didn't sleep the night before my first 12 hour shift in EMS. Though I didn't have problems sleep after those first few shifts, I'm not sure I ever effectively managed my stress before leaving EMS...

My Facility has no Training Officer....don't want to go "inactive"

Reach out to New Hampshire CPR and see if they can help. They provide an affiliation service for $10 a month that might meet NREMT requirements.

This topic has been posted quite a few times over the years but never really answered. It would be awesome if you could report back on what your map test included.

    Can we upload a video?

I'm going to need to dig around today to enable the option. It's available and I'll enable it, I just need to work through what I need to update on our platform.

    Your Controversial EMS-Related Opinion

Additional education (AEMT and Paramedic) should be required for all paid providers after a set period of time. EMT-Basic > 1 year > EMT-Advanced > 1 year > Paramedic

What controversial opinion(s) do you have about EMS? I'll go first: those that refuse to be vaccinated shouldn't be in EMS.

What is your service doing to attract applicants?

I saw online that nurses are making bank these days. Massive sign on bonuses, often double their hourly rate, and hundreds of dollars for picking up OT shifts in addition to overtime. Just a semester or more of school beyond most medic programs.

    Do you carry ammonia inhalants

Not allowed for EMS in Michigan. Listed reasons were that it's often used punitively, doesn't treat any known condition, can worsen pre-existing respiratory conditions, there are hazards to using it, and all patients deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

When should you go to the ER for a broken finger?

You’re asking for medical advice, which we don’t provide. Call your doctor and ask what they suggest.

Is your public EMS service providing interfacility transports?

No idea, I’m just looking at PulsePoint. I know that FEMA is providing the county units to help with the shortage of units. I’m surprised that all of the IFT aren’t being diverted to privates. I thought that was the national norm.

Is your public EMS service providing interfacility transports?

I was surprised to see how many interfacility transports my county service provides. There doesn't appear to be a shortage of private companies serving the area. I'm shocked. Is this the norm for public/third service agencies?
