Sure. Is there someone that isn't part of your family that works in the business and can act as a reference? Work extra hard in your training course so you can count on an instructor or two as a reference.

I think there is a high probability they'd check references. I included my EMT instructor and college professor.

I don't think re-doing coursework will help your confidence. I'd venture to say that EMS isn't for you right now. I'd look at becoming a RN if you want to stay in medicine. What have you been doing since you left EMS?

My research shows this to be untrue. The IRS will settle if you have no income and no prospect of income in the future. Otherwise, lots of penalties and a long road of wage garnishment are in your future. There's always bankruptcy.
