    Written Exam

You receive a white board and marker at the testing site. As soon as you're allowed, use the white board to write down anything you might struggle to recall during the test. Medications, dosages, assessments, mnemonics, math. Then, you'll have that to use during the test.

What is the exam on? What is the format? How have you studied in the past? I've taught for 20 years, here are some general tips I tell every student: Studying Studying should be an active process. Categorize and re-write your notes, make flashcards, create a Kahoot, create a Quizlet, etc...

I think the NREMT plays a pivotal role in informing standards of education requirements and facilitating reciprocity between states. I think they're also a strong advocacy organization for the profession.

    Medication contraindications

What's with the attitudes? I'm looking at my local protocols for overdose and I don't see any of that at the BLS level, @NomadicMedic With Narcan doesn't the risk of death from respiratory depression outweighs other concerns?

    Medication contraindications

I don't think there are any absolutes when it comes to medications. Every medication has contraindications. I would reach out to your medical control authority. My bet is that they'd get back to you the same day and be happy to answer your questions.

    Needle-less EPI Pen

I was reading about this a few months ago. This is a game changer outside EMS, not sure how big of a deal it will be with EMS providers. When teaching epi pen use to non-providers we practice with the Epi Pen, AUVI-q, and the generic injectors. I thought the AUVI-q would be a game changer...

When would you request a supervisor to a scene?

As a BLS unit that responded to 911 calls, I can't think of a time I ever requested a supervisor on scene. I'd call for one if I crashed the rig, my partner or I were injured, we had a MCI that required coordination, or there was a patient/family dispute that couldn't be settled. Called them...

    When to discourage transport

I received a reply from from the state: Patient refusal of care is considered outside the scope of clinical care and is not currently included in their regional protocols. The handling of patient refusals is expected to be covered by individual agency policies, not regional protocols.

    Airway

When a patient with a King airway regains consciousness, you should remove the device. It is designed for unresponsive patients without a gag reflex. If the patient becomes conscious, the airway can create an airway obstruction. Removing the airway helps prevent these issues and allows the...
