Don't have 30 mins to look at a video, just 2 minutes for snarky sarcasm, but you might be a bad EMS supervisor if bedding the detectives on scene is more important that the welfare of the surviving families and witnesses....

This is one of the reasons why NYS BEMS has been rolling out an EMS Leadership class. I just attended the one at the Vital Signs Conference and recommend it to anybody in a leadership role in EMS. I am also finishing up the train the train components online. It is 16 hours for the core leadership class and two add-on 3 hour modules for retention and recruitment.

The class doesn't cover everything, but it explains sound leadership ideas that I do think is a foundation that EMS agencies should start with.
There is also the Safetech EMS Leadership class that AAA promotes. That one has 4 levels, each 15 hours.

We need to stop putting warm bodies in positions without training. Let's push for any EMS provider in a supervisory role getting at least a 16 hour class on basic leadership skills. Heck, NYS even gives you CME credit under operations for it.

A bad supervisor is when you roll up on a scene and the first words from the supervisor is taken him to xyz hospital and not the trauma center.
