    Dilema

I think really, what I'm going to have to do is take a long, hard look at where I'm headed. I should focus solely on getting to med school. I can do EMS later. It's still interesting as hell to me, but I think it'd be in my better interest to explore my options and focus on getting through...

    PERCOM online courses

Anyone heard much about this? Online didactics, skills training in Abilene, TX, and final training in DFW. Sounds like a good deal, since its a combination of online and on site.

    Dilema

Scribes do chart prep and minor office work. I'm not planning on getting into EMS for med school. Quite the opposite. I want to be able to work through undergrad doing something I love. Pharm didn't do it for me. There wasn't enough patient interaction. Yeah, yeah EMS isn't perfect. But it'd be...

    Dilema

Here's the deal. I had planned on starting EMS courses this fall here in Paris, Tx. I got a job offer as a scribe in Fort Worth (2 hours away). While I can do EMS there, moving is going to be a financial stretch. However, I am thinking about pursuing med school. The experience and...

    Tarrant Co. College Ft. Worth

Anyone been through there? There's a good chance I could be having to uproot soon, so I wouldn't be able to go where I thought I was. Or if you haven't been through there, what's the word on the street about it?

    Paramedic TV shows

Haha that's what I'm doing tonight, actually. Should be picking up a how to guide on screenplays this week. :) I've got to start writing more. I'm a little rusty since I quit my reporting gig.

    EMT-B and Virginia

Awesome! Hopefully I'll know about the scribe job soonish. That ones at Methodist in Dallas (I think), so it'd be awesome experience. I'm leaning toward med school, but if I'm satisfied being a medic, so be it :) I'll definitely look into UVA's ED.

    Paramedic TV shows

I've been thinking about writing a pilot for one just for the hell of it. Trying to branch out from the usual. Now if I can figure out how to write a screenplay, I'll be set lol.

    EMT-B and Virginia

Shadowing, yes. As far as volunteering, I'm considering taking a job as a scribe, but even that's a paid gig. I'd be relocating from Texas, so I'm not just terribly familiar with places to volunteer there. Also, how far is Richmond from Cville? An hour or so? That wouldn't be terrible if the...

    EMT-B and Virginia

Wondering what kinds of places if any would take on an EMT basic in Virginia, particularly around the Charlottesville area. I'm torn at the moment between going straight through medic school here or doing Basic through finishing my undergrad. Assuming I can get accepted to uni, but that's a...

    Nurse vs paramedic

There are 4 year degrees for EMS, but they're not professional degrees. Pro degrees exist in other fields. From what I've seen, most of the BS EMS degrees are just that. BS. They train management and aren't focused on the practical side. There does need to be a national effort to standardize...

    The Most Interesting EMT

Not EMS specific, but this totally applies to me at least.

    Nurse vs paramedic

For what its worth, I've seen a few programs devote more clinical and didactic time during the BSN vs. the AA. Shrug. May not be everywhere, and that wouldn't particularly surprise me. And yeah, from what I've seen, even medics are undereducated. I've seen a few rely way too heavily on...

    Nurse vs paramedic

The issue is, no matter how you slice it, you can't get the same requirements in a certificate that you can in a true, four year degree. It's like saying that docs are just as educated as PAs. I think what they've brought up is legit. There's needs to be a working degree in EMS.
