Predicting a difficult airway is darn near impossible

Thatd usually why the providers don't here, they can do it if need be but i assume would rather not. Actually had one of our docs a few years ago if he could intubate. Flight isnt able to fly here as much in the winter like the rest of the year. Haha

Predicting a difficult airway is darn near impossible

It is what it is, but welcome to extremely rural healthcare. I can say I've never worked, or been to a CAH that staffs actual ER physicians. For level IV trauma in ND and SD the requirements having a MD/DO on call for trauma, all ER providers must have taken ATLS and passed, and have a general...

Predicting a difficult airway is darn near impossible

I figured I might get some questions like yours from my comments (especially the part about not using Glidescope first). Which is completely understandable. So you are correct in assuming that it is a small hospital that I work at (Ambulance is run by the hospital). We're a Level IV Trauma...

Predicting a difficult airway is darn near impossible

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when I got called in (was at home sleeping) to the ER to RSI a patient. When I first arrived and saw the patient I thought for sure he was going to be very difficult to intubate. 140+ kg, no neck, tongue was swollen from biting it during a seizure...

So just wanted to say hey I'm Tommerag, again. I'm sure I have a post somewhere in this thread that has my very first one. Apparently my last log in prior to tonight was like June of 2013. Drivers license 4 years

No. For example in South Dakota we do not have any special licensing requirement to drive an ambulance. It all depends on what the agency insurance company will cover. One service I worked at you had to be 23. Some services you just need to be 18. Just avoid DUI's. I hear those are no bueno.

    difficult partners

Being patient and forgiving will get you much farther then most people realize.

    difficult partners

I understand that, but I found that it helps. Keeps your partners from make you seem like the problem. Just have to bite your tongue as hard as that maybe.

    What's up everyone?

Well glad to hear things haven't changed. I've noticed a few people I know know have red names. Other then that I'd agree doesn't seem much has changed, which is nice.

    difficult partners

The biggest thing is to remember; even if they are difficult to work with and you don't like them, be professional with them.

    Online EMT-B course

Does Virginia use registry testing, or the NREMT? If they use NREMT you have to be 18 to test with them, if they use their own state testing you'll have to check for age requirements. Granted EMT-B class is not difficult at all, but if you can find something online you will have to make sure you...
