here plain paramedics make WAY less than RN's who are paramedics. so its a money thing. I'm told all the time by paramedics to get my rn and challenge the medic. of course emt pay varies by service. but i know the avg amount in my area will be about 11-12 an hr. im curious if im going to be...

So moving to Fl is possibility in the future. What is the avg pay rate of florida emts? In NJ it is possible to become an RN and challenge the paramedic boards without going through the medic course, does it work the same way in FL?

    Athiests in EMS

I tend to keep my beliefs to myself. And I try to keep it that way when asked by patients and coworkers. Though many of my coworkers attempt to push their brand on me (one woman in particular) I try to tell her I'm not interested as nicely as possible until she starts getting pushy and yelling...

Legality of informing police about intoxication

In my experience the cops are the first to know when someone is drunk, most specifically during an mva.

how much does a part time basic emt make per year

I make 12 an hr. (I would make more if they would let me drive) I'm a part timer due to school. So my yearly amount is based on how many shifts per week they'll give me.

    Temporary Employment for College Students

A year long EMT-B class? Why so long? Many private transport companies hire newbies right out of class. I don't know about temporary employment, you should try asking the companies.

Friend of mine was almost killed by docs in the ER

Its weird that they didn't bother to monitor her blood sugar. I was friends with someone who was a diabetic and developed DKA from being ill. I sat with him in the ER for a long friggin' time. Just about every 10 minutes or so someone would come in and stick him to either take blood or check out...

Yeah. That probably would have been the best option. But I was hoping some mega whacker would have known.

No generators. We don't carry meds either. On an EMT-B cert there is nothing you can really give. Though I wish NJ would use the EMT-I. So I guess I'm doomed to freezing. I should start stocking up on snuggies and heat packs!

Funniest Story Your Instructor Ever Told You

that is an option, but i think what the crew did was slightly admirable since the guy was beginning to swerve. had they not pulled him over, the guy could have very well killed someone.

    Most useless equipment you carry

I work for a transport company. Pretty much all of our pts are seniors. So the most useless thing on here would be an OB kit. I don't think any bed bound 80 yr old ladies are going to be needing it.
