Hi all!
Bear with me while I explain this. I have been an Emt-B for about 9 months. I was the top student in my class and my preceptor said I had the best student assessment skills he had ever seen. I work for a transport company and do Er runs on a regular basis. Although I do make mistakes...
This has been really bothering me!
I work for a private transport company. While on our way to pick up a Pt. From dialysis, we drove past a gym. As we went past, several people pointed at us and as we turned the corner we saw a girl running towards us waving her arms. It dawned on us there was...
Just curious where the SePa medics got their training. I've narrowed it down to Good fellowship in West Chester or Montco. Anyone have experience with either? Pros/cons of both?
While on a routine dialysis pick up at a nursing home, a 911call was going on at the same time. As the crew passed by us one guy was doing very light one handed compressions on a smallish 80+y/o F. They were not using a bvm or any O2 for that matter. Nor was there an AED or monitor hooked up...
I was looking for feedback on The Sanford Brown Medic Program in the philly area. It is crazy expensive not sure why. The only reason I am looking into this is; aside from being an EMT they do not require pre-req's. I just want to get started as quickly as possible. Maybe thats a mistake
I am an EMT-B student looking for a place I can print out some fill in the blank anatomy charts. Any suggestions? Also a looking for a good study guide for med terms.
Can anyone recommend a 911 station in the Philly metro area that may hire a new EMT-B with about 8 months of volly experience? I am kind of confused how to get a job, as most stations want 1 year of 911 experience. Nobody can seem to give me a straight answer on the subject. Any imput would...
I have a few questions pertaining to ER tech employment.
Here is my situation:
Starting Emt school soon
Will do 1 clinical ED shift every other week
Currently a volunteer with and ALS Co. (1 911/cath lab shift every other week)
What is the starting salary in the Philly area? (or in a...
One of the local amublance Co's I was interested in requires you to pay for the application process as well as pay for orientation. They also run a credit check on you. (my credit is less than perfect!) Does this seem odd? None of the other ones in my area require such a thing. The do require...
Re: Flight med path
Most of the replies are what I had expected, except for the instructor cards as well as the degree. I guess the thing I am still not understanding is what degree specifically? I know there are flight nurses, but thought they were seprate from the medics. Is EMT-P...
I just wanted to see how some of you came to be flight medics. Where you started, types of jobs you have had etc. Basically your career path to a flight med. Any input is helpful as always!
This is a 2 part question. Does anybody know of a website or sites that lists the call volume for specific ambulance companies in Pennsylvania counties? I have been going to specific station websites but the task is quite daunting. I start EMT training in May and would like to volunteer asap...
Does anyone know if flight meds have to pass a physical? I have seen that you have to be under 200lbs and under 6'2" but haven't seen much more passed that.
Thanks once again for all of your replies!
