We get these at least every other day. often times 2 a day. A Dr in our coverage area uses 911 as a taxi service.
I feel bad for the people who get an ALS bill on a BS call.
I haven't done any out of state trips (yet), but another company in town has a contract that brings them to NYC, from Scranton PA, fairly often.
The way I see it, it should go like this (assumed that you are an EMT-P, and out of state):
mind you this is coming from a new EMT-B
911...
Was doing a psyche transfer from a hospital to a facility about 2.5 hrs away. the pt I brought was VERY VERY paranoid. asking the last time an ambulance caught fire, did we have fire extinguishers, how do they treat burns, etc. After answering a bunch of his questions, I excused myself from the...
I went to orientation today at the local ambulance company. I got a list of things I need. The two bigest were my EVOC, and Haz - Mat R&I. The guy in charge of my orientation said they run an EVOC class, and its coming up soon, so don't worry about that just yet, but said that I can find a Haz -...
I don't know what number my test ended at, but I passed (EMT-B)
The guy giving the test said its 135 questions. I remember seeing 35, then I started getting into it and wasn't paying attention to the number. All of a sudden it said test completed, click here to exit. I clicked it, and it...
So in one of our practice tests in class we had an interesting question. I saw this a while ago and have asked people I know but never get a strait answer. I am doing this by memory so I hope it makes sense.
You are called to the scene of a bank robbery/ shoot out with police.
An officer...
no lights or stickers... yet. I would like to put NREMT on the back window of my jeep, but i have to take my NR test still :P
If I have my backpack, I have the big, cushioned CPR mask, like on a BVM, but with a 1-way, my scope, a mix of pens and sharpies, a cheap penlight, a plastic O2...
I have a few lights.
One I got as a gift, its one of those 10 for $5 lights, runs on 3 AAA batteries, its a mediocre little light good for simple things.
One I got from walmart on a late night "I'm bored" trip there with some college buddies. 1AA and a decent beam at house hold/ under hood...
I would wear the pink gloves to help breast cancer. I had a family friend whom was like an aunt to me die of breast cancer, so its always been one of those things that when I can help out I will...
Though a 6'3" 270lbs guy wearing pink gloves might look a little odd... :P lol
assuming I pass my EMT-B test in Jan... I'll be 20.
Never really thought of it as a job I wanted to do... My mom said she would pay for the class, and I figured it would be good to know, and now I love it.
Yea, to me as an EMT-B, I just have to keep him alive till he gets to the ED. I just like knowing that the 15yo that is acting drunk but doesn't smell of alcohol, may have OD'ed on cough syrup and is "robo-stoned" instead. while possibly unimportant to me driving him to the ER, its still...
