    Slip-On Boots

I love my leather slip-on boots (similar to RedBacks), as they go on quick, breathe better than lace up boots and are very comfortable. I would caution that there is little-to-no ankle support, It is easy to roll your ankle. Better to avoid that if a majority of your calls are 911. For slower...

Medlife Ambulance is a great company to work for!

Bottom line there is three methods of transport, two of which the County of Los Angeles regulates. 1. Ambulance transport - staffed by either EMT's, paramedics, or a combination of personnel. 2. Ambulette transport - staffed by EMT's, with a gurney. No medical equipment is in these vans, and...

Medlife Ambulance is a great company to work for!

I'm surprised to hear that a decision has yet to be reached with MedLife. While any appeals needs to be carefully considered, it seems the lengthy appeals process only hurts current personnel of the company, and competitors looking at their stake within the industry. I'm aware of AMT's...

Medlife Ambulance is a great company to work for!

AmeriPride- I would also like to hear what happened to MedLife at the hearing. From the previous post, it sounds like the decision for MedLife has been postponed. Was there any rationale discussed at the hearing? How about the other companies on the agenda as well. What were their outcomes...

    Texas EMS Jobs

Thanks for the information. I recently heard the same about AMR having a new Operations Manager and plans to move from their current location. I think AMR is really trying to bolster their stakes within the area, especially with Acadian's presence. You're right about Coastal as well. The...

    Texas EMS Jobs

Insight into Houston private companies Has anyone heard of, or have insight into AMR, Harris County EMS (HCEMS), or Coastal EMS companies. I'd be interested in the quality of their reputation, reliability, and management. Both look like clean running operations. Love to hear from an 'insider'...

    Working for Acadian Ambulance. Anyone?

Acadian EMT position I applied online for an EMT-B position. I have not heard anything from Acadian. Does anyone have suggestions on how to proceed? Should I call them, or is there any insider advice on hiring? Thanks!

out of state tx reciprocity process

My Out-of-State reciprocity ended up not being all that bad. Mid-January send off fingerprint card to get processed and converted to electronic form. Mid February the electronic version of my fingerprints prints are forwarded to the TX DSHS, and today I received my EMT card. Is the EMT...

Medlife Ambulance is a great company to work for!

Addrobo, I agree. Why should the appeals process be so lengthy? It's been months since anything was updated on the original Med-Life appeal. Elite also appealed more recently, and the County EMSA hasn't posted a thing.

    Huntington Beach Fire Ambulance Operators

I agree that the title is disrespectful. After all, you possess a EMT license. An alternate title should be EMT/Firefighter Intern. I would look a bit closer at the position. Ambulance operators (AO's) typically aren't employed by the (fire) department, and instead are contracted though an...

Hey Mike, Welcome to the forum. I'm moving to Houston next month, so I'll say howdy and wish you well. How is work as a medic? I've considered advancing from basic, once I get established in TX. Regards.

    Working for Acadian Ambulance. Anyone?

Its great to see them begin interviewing with your TX card not yet in hand. Sounds like they work with you, which is more than I can say for some other providers. Best of luck on the interview.

    Working for Acadian Ambulance. Anyone?

I'm moving to the Houston area soon. Would you share if you have been hired, and your experience thus far? On the surface, Acadian seems on par with other providers in the area.

Medlife Ambulance is a great company to work for!

Leirsyn, Have you looked at the LA County EMS website? Go to http://ems.dhs.lacounty.gov/AmbulanceLicensing/AmbLic.htm and look under Pending Ambulance Operator Applications. Doesn't the statement "The Ambulance Operator Business Licenses for the following companies were denied; however...
