Highly unlikely to become that dangerous due to hypoglycemia, but anything is possible.you will most likely see the person in a very confused state or unconscious and maybe seizing.anyone with an ams,the first thing I do is check their blood sugar.plus I have had type 1 diabetes for 23 years.
I too am on an insulin pump.I have never got low under the circumstances you mention of.I am really on top of my diabetes.I check my bg 8-12 Times a day and usually eat every 3-4 hours.it would be good to know what your bg is when you are dispatched and then once you get low, just to see how big...
That's weird,I have type 1 DM as well.I have never experienced this.all I can recommend is make sure you are eating enough and make sure you carry glucose tablets.you probably already know that.do you take insulin?maybe bring this up with your doctor.my motto is "don't become a patient"
I work as an Emt and as an Er tech, for now.I will be going back to school and will further my education in both fields.being on the street is far more exciting, than being in a building all day.
I appreciate all the recommendations.I will probably go with a rescue tool of some sort.I know not everyone carries a knife, but I would rather have to much equipment then to little.
I am in the market for a new knife.I am new to a 911 service and am in need of some recommendations.I don't want to spend to much money, for the the fear of loosing it.
I am trying to put together a scenario for a pt. who presents with possible meningitis and am just kinda stumped.Other than the usual of stiff neck, ams and fever, what are some other things might you find in the field.:wacko:
I was doing an ambulance clinical and we was dispatched to a house for a complaint of leg paralysis, upon arrival we found it was a kid who fell asleep sitting on a toilet, his legs fell asleep and his mom called 911:rolleyes:
