    Disposable CPAP and Peep

My company currently uses the FlowSafe 2 EZ disposable CPAP system and I love it. Each system comes complete with mask, peep gauge and an adaptor for in line neb treatments. The straps are very easy to strap on and adjust and the entire system use less O2 than most systems. 8lpm=5 peep...

looking for info on texas ems

I am working in Houston for the Acadian, trust me, Beumont, TX is the place to be. Orange would be another great place, 20 min from Beaumont and just a few miles from the Texas Louisiana border. Living that close to Lake Charles you could work full time as a ground Paramedic and work as an...

    13yof knee to the jaw

I see a lot of people on here saying anxiety over and over. The OP has repeated over and over that she was calm and showed no distress. I would lean toward the low K. I had a patient whose K was so low he was limp like a rag doll, nearly paralyzed. I would also like to throw this out there...

    Acadian Ambulance Houston, TX

More than you can imagine. Its gotten to the point our operations supervisors have had to come out of the office and work shifts to get everything covered. Lets not forget the extra crew request by dispatch for the busy days. Right now you could work as much as you wanted to.

    MCI at Hospital

We tracked our transports thru dispatch records and also kept a hard record of all patients transported. On the hard record we wrote done where the patient came from, what service transported them, where they were going and why they needed to be transferred. Getting information to our dispatch...

    MCI at Hospital

Well over 75 patient were transported, the facility went on EMS divert and also was able to get a large tractor trailer generator in Saturday morning to run the main floors of the hospital. The only services they were not...

    MCI at Hospital

Ok, a couple of weeks back we had one of our local hospitals call dispatch and request every available unit to respond. The power at the hospital had gone out and the main generator failed, leaving the entire facility running on a small backup generator. I was the On Duty Supervisor for my...

Why are there so many of you?

Very true that an old basic can make the difference on a call with a green medic. I do understand and agree with the other commenter about the dangers of being presumptuous with medicine. Nearly every protocol my company has starts with 12-lead prior to departure. In Texas, the BLS we would do...

    Looking for a Good Job

Well Acadian in the Houston area has opening for everything from wheelchair driver to Paramedic. We are growing so quickly, we are getting ready to split the Houston are into two separate operations.

    Fire Based EMS

I've always felt fire and EMS needed to be two separate services. Firefighters want to fight fire, paramedics want to use medicine. When you require either to do the other job, they are not passionate about it. I have seen patient care fall to the wayside because the fire/medic just didn't care...

    Versed IN verses IM

Trust me, I try several other treatments before I even consider sedating someone to intubate them.

    Versed IN verses IM

We don't even have RSI protocols for our ground medics. We have a sedation protocol for intubation, but it's no good. However, once a person is intubated, a good versed drip, 4mg/hr infusion rate usually does the trick, works better than any other sedation drip I've seen, including propofol.
