IV Sticks - AEMT noob tips and tricks?

I like to inflate a BP cuff to the Pt's mean BP and let their arm dangle while I prep my equipment. When I'm ready to stick, those veins are usually huge and obvious. Or I'll run a flashlight under my Pts hand and search for one. If worse comes to worse, and you're just not able to get...

    Remove Motorcycle Helmet?

I was taught to leave the helmet in place, unless it obstructs your care of the Pt's Airway. Removing it may compromise C-Spine.

    Oxygen

I agree, and if I was putting across the motion of only providing O2 then I apologize. Of course, when 02 or another intervention is indicated then provide it. I was simply stating my opinion of what to do when there really aren’t any indicated interventions. Simply transporting is completely...

I hesitated. And this guy might've lost his life..

You did nothing wrong. Yes, you could of done CPR but in all reality it probably wouldnt of helped. If the guy died; It was from the accident, not from you. In our service, a traumatic arrest resuscitation like that wouldnt even be initated. Our protocols says to give them a body bag & wait...

    c-collar for 7 month old?

C-Spine doesn't necessarily mean using a C-Collar. The goal is to immobilize the head, neck, & back. You're allowed to use whatever you have to in order to accomplish that. If your Ped collar is too big, go grab a towel & some tape and/or coband.
