Anyone here working ems in imperial county?

My agency sent an email out asking for volunteers to go on a “strike team” to assist the county doing als/cct/ift transports for a week

AMR is hurting in a lot of different places. They just activated their Emergency Response Team to help support staffing. Riverside county is getting 8 of the AMR ERT Medics and San Bernardino is getting 30 medics.

AMR down in Imperial has always been short staffed even before COVID. It’s also the busy season in Imperial county now that the off-roading season has opened up.

Wow that’s insane, I had no idea they were that short. I mean riverside was also short medics, didn’t realize San Bernardino was that bad too. I didn’t know Amr had such a system for staffing like that. It’s pretty neat actually.

makes sense I go out to ocotillo all the time myself.

They haven’t used the ERT for routine staffing before.

Do the ERT guys have to certify in each county?
Depends on how they are being utilized. During a disaster response, no they do not have to get any additional certificates and rely on their home protocols.

For the current issue, they are having to attend county accreditation classes for the county they will be working in. They are only going to be working in one county.

It sounds like they will be here for 24 days working 12 hour shifts for all of those 24 days.

Is AMR paying for hotels and/or per diem? If so, sounds like they (the guys on the ERT) are making bank, whereas AMR is spending a lot more money on that than they are just hiring adequate crews for those areas (even if they give pay raises to actually recruit adequate crews, that can't cost more than paying ERT like that, right?)

Hotel and meals are covered by the company. From what I’ve been told by higher ups is that they are being paid door to door. So it will be 24/7 pay for the 24 days.

Wow that’s even more wild,

The disaster response model I get, but to certify to work I a place for a month basically that kind sucks

But that payday is going to be epic, they’ll be set for half a year by doing 1 month especially if they pay ot after 40
