Hey guys just looking for some insight with Ventura county EMS specifically AMR . But interested in Gold Coast as well . Things like typical call volume for AMR 24 vs Gold Coast 24... relationship with the fire departments in their area... and just anything you can offer . Thanks . Currently working 911 in a LA County system and looking to move in about 6 months or so....

Emtlife is like a fine cigar and bourbon, you’ve got to relax and enjoy it. Not a lot of active Californians on the board.

Hmmm idk much about Ventura. All I know is gold cross is there which is AMR affiliate. AMR is there and lifeline EMS which I heard runs ojai and surrounding areas. I am curious myself since I’m almost done with medic school and looking at possible places to work/apply.

There is a decent amount of us Californians on the forum however the majority of us are SoCal based with no information or experience in the central-Cal or NorCal areas.

Gold Coast has been under the AMR umbrella for some time now. AMR on the Central Coast seems kewl, but I keep telling folks SLA is the hidden Central Coast gem no one hardly mentions.

I’m sure there’s some transfer opportunities within the two companies. I’m sure more people transfer from Oxnard (Gold Coast) to AMR Ventura after a while/ with enough seniority than the opposite.

If there are any 24’s in Oxnard, I can’t imagine they’re not like most of ours- stand ups.

Also, I wouldn’t exactly call the Cali folks on here inactive. Perhaps more...reactive;)

Gold coast pays 14$ an hour starting for medics. Really an insult. But people do it, so they keep paying that low.

Both companies staff 24s, with a couple of day cars. Gold Coast runs more calls than AMR but both are just as busy. Gold Coast covers Ventura and Camarillo, when those units are busy. I’d say vice versa but, Gold Coast will try to clear as soon as they can to keep AMR out of Oxnard. Gold Coast’s seasoned and salty dogs are all gone, got hired by fire departments. As long as you know the VCEMS policies, have delegation skills, and skill. You’d get hired. Nobody from Gold Coast, except, crappy EMTs transfer to AMR. It’s actually more the opposite. But, either is rare. All agencies in the county work together well, though, I hear Oxnard Fire have medics and swing their hoses around on calls more. Pay isn’t great but, are you planning on being a career private EMSer?
