What does the first arriving ambulance at a MCI do first? Is it estanblish an incident command system or to start triaging? This was a question I had on a test.

It's a question you need to look up the answers to. Forum prohibits posting of test questions

Your book should have some sort of procedure in it. Theres also Google... Put in some mental fortitude and some personal initiative before blatantly asking us homework/ test questions.

im gonna go with is that it is start triage. i had put in the answer to establish command but with my test results saying below passing in ems operations. but whatever I have no faith in passing this test anymore. im going to continue to be a loser. if only life did not exist, things would be easier. im sorry for asking all these homework or whatever questions. wont happen again

I think you should ask your instructor what the correct answer is.

btw, the correct answer is BSI & Scene safety.

Easy there. You're just getting some grief because the answer to that question is probably in the first few paragraphs of whatever chapter in your book discusses MCI. Keep doing your practice tests and keep reviewing.

If you start triaging before establishing IC, you'll run into a number of issues ranging from failing to communicate needs to dispatch to getting overwhelmed on-scene.

Please don't tell me you plan to post every question you can remember from your exam and expect us to explain to you why you got it wrong.

You need to sign up with an adaptive EMS testing service. Jb learning, medic tests, pick your poison. Whatever you do, stop paying the registry money until you're actually ready for the test.

I'm going to hijack this thread for a bit....

Lets actually talk about MCIs and what initial steps will set up a successful or unsuccessful event. I think one of the most critical steps initially is to identify that this event (whether its a MVC, fire, shooting, ect.) is a BIG deal. We have a memory aid at my service for MCIs that we are taught in the new hire academy, and from what I remember it is something like ID/Green/More/Beds. IDentify this is an MCI, ask dispatch for a designated radio channel (Green channels here), ask for More resources, and start getting available Bed counts at the surrounding hospitals. I have not ran a large event where all of these steps have been necessary but I think about it often. How am I going to rapidly and accurately triage patients while orchestrating all the other elements of the event? Who can I delegate to triage and provide appropriate BLS measures to patients while getting an accurate number of patients plus their status (red, yellow, green)? How am I going to communicate with fire, PD, EMS (including other agencies coming into our district to assist)? And a big one, depending on type of event, is where to stage vehicles so all the other agencies and resources can be appropriately positioned?

These are infrequent, high stress, highly publicised events and I personally don't want the first time I think about these things to be on the day I run one of these things. So what are some of your guys's tips, tricks, thoughts, management styles of large scale events?
