I am doing scanario testing and this is will be my third attempt. But, head instructor wants to talk to my mom and he said I was not in trouble but, decides if I stay or go. But, I test yesterday on second try and failed for following protecalls but, not in his way. Same person failed me 2 times. When they did test they asked everyone who what they did except me they did something different. I was told to study epi but, instead I got curve ball was atsma protecalls. what can I do about this. I need help fast!

I'm gonna take a shot and say that, he is doing scenario testing, is on his 3rd attempt. Sounds like his lead instructor wants to talk to his mom to determine if he stays in the program or not. He tested yesterday, but failed twice for not following protocols his instructors way. Same instructor failed him both times. They asked everyone what they did during the scenario except him. He was told to study epi but got a asthma scenario instead. He wants to know what he can do about it and needs a fast reply. That's my best guess anyway.

Study everything...

You don't get to pick the calls you respond to in the field. If you know the material and your having problems with your nerves during testing, take a deep breath and slow your thoughts down. Be methodical about your approach. 10 minutes in a standard scenario testing format is a lot more time than you think, especially since skills are verbalized and not actually performed.

If you don't actually know the material and are trying to fake your way through it we can't really help you with that.

I'm not trying to be an a** but I'm going to speak my mind. As a young provider I'm tired of being profiled because of my generation's sense of entitlement and lack of work ethic.

Why does the instructor want to talk with your mother?

Unless you're under 18, I don't think that the instructors are allowed to discuss your academics with anyone but you without your consent under FERPA.

First you should take an English class, that seems to be the main concern right now.

Second, it's your job to know all the protocols, not just the one that you think will be used. Them giving you a different scenario than you were expecting is a terrible excuse, whether it's a asthma scenario or a OB scenario, you should know how to run each call competently.

italk, take a deeeeeeep breath.

I have a strong suspicion that failing to pass it this time, as a minor, will not influence if you try it again later in a few years. Getting frantic about the tests at this point will not help you pass. Whatever you study, take the info from your text so it is what you are supposed to be learning.

What if you decided not to take this third try right now? Come back next semester or something?

I almost done with my class just 2 more mods left I think. I have been on call. If fail this scenario I might try first responder than go back to emt. I am going to be focused and I will pass.

NEW JERSEY PROTOCOLS FOR EPINEPHRINE / AUTO-INJECTOR

The “Six Rights” of medication administration:
1. Right patient – is the medication indicated for this patient; no contraindications; no allergies
2. Right drug – the correct name (trade name vs. generic name); correct concentration
3. Right dose
4. Right route
5. Right time – slow IVP vs. rapid IVP
6. Right documentation

Ensure the patient is a true anaphalaxtic:
- Tracheal Edema and/or Angioedema (If only present give epi)
- Hives, Diaphoresis, Cold, Clamy Skin*
- Hypotension & Tachycardia *
- Hyperventillation*
(* = combination of 2 or more)

Assuming the 6 rights are all in agreeance with each other:
GLOVES! GLOVES!! GLOVES!!! (Standard Precautions/BSI Buddy)
1. Uncap auto-injector
2. Jab fatty muscular area such as the upper forearm, or thigh
3. Press and hold firmly for about 10 seconds to allow full medication administration.
4. Remove tip and place in sharps container.
5. Vital Signs & Assesment
6. Contact medical direction for further direction if need be.

Your squad should reinforce this?
What program are you with?

Alright dude here it goes. I'm not trying to lecture but check it out, I have always had a hot head and a short fuse. I'm gonna let you in on a secret: It won't get you anywhere in life except into trouble. You have to find a way to get it under control, especially in this profession. People are stupid, they do dumb things, awful things, things you couldn't even imagine yet you have to treat them like a human being and treat them as you would any other patient. Even if they did just kill a little kid due to DUI, child abuse, whatever it may be. Those patients will make you mad, and if you blow up on them your finished.

Remembering things I can't really help you with but you better be able to remember fine details to work this job.

What's your rush? Enjoy HS, cause the real world is no where near as fun.

I will miss the many people I meet and that helped me. This was just a dent in the road. Thank you everyone for doing there best to help me and guide through my course even to the last minute.

Some good things go try out next time:
Try to get a study group together with some of your other classmates.
Join a volunteer squad, RIDE! RIDE!! RIDE!!
Reinforce EVERYTHING you've learned in class by quizzing others. Who knows you may teach them something new.

Hope this helps!
