None of the 4 places I have worked at or done clinicals at in my area use it. To my knowledge, none of the other Fire/EMS places in the surrounding areas use it either. So at least here, the answer would be no.Serious question, are you guys really using xopenex pre-hospital? Using it often?
Even in the hospital setting we get push back due to its cost and I'm not sure how much benefit it has overall, or at least may have more of a perceived benefit than actually does.

It's benefits aren't perceived to this papa of two asthmatic girls, especially when my 5 year old isn't bouncing around with "The Albuterol Jitters".Serious question, are you guys really using xopenex pre-hospital? Using it often?

No kidding? Good to know. Our girls usually get a hit of, or nebulized Pulmicort when their asthma flares up. If it's bad enough it's followed with the X, if they can hold off then X is given at night.I use it personally in my house for my oldest daughter. It gets her less tachy and jittery and she often responds to the X over the A better and it seems to last much longer. When she is in distress, we used to do several A nebs but now we will kick off with an A neb and then give an X shortly after if she is still tight or wheezy. Works great.
Interesting. If I had it I wouldn't give Albuterol a second thought. Again, after dealing with my two daughters and their asthma and seeing the difference in the two, at least with the kiddos, I would go straight for the Levabuterol everytime. We carry it, I've honestly never used it. I always go right to the Albuterol, out of habit.
Lo, a few??...going back a few years Aminophylline,...
