If you could choose to work in EMS anywhere in the US, where would that be and why?

It's another long, cold, dark winter in my state and I am again fantasizing about greener pastures. Circumstances currently dictate that I stick around for a year or so yet, but I can dream in the meantime. :P What's everyone else's idea of the closest possible to their ideal location?

Several places in Texas. There are many that pay quite well, and thanks to TX being a delegated practice state there are many great sets of protocols to work under.

Simply to work as medic in a great system? Sussex County DE. Hands down. After working there, I can see why medic who leave for greener pastures usually come back.

Quality of life not as a medic? Bend Oregon. One of my favorite places in the country.

Anywhere that doesn't get above 90 degrees in the summer, is not like CA, and has mountains. So pretty much a rocky mountain state.

Bend is awesome.

Same, except someplace that doesn't get below 0 degrees in winter. I've never been up a mountain. :(

This. Or collier county Florida

Incidentally, we're looking for a paramedic south of Houston.

California, Hawaii, or for a cruise line. Technically, I've done all 3.

A crack at the east coast would be nice but I'm pretty much settled now.

I base my decision of where I like to live and that just had to be somewhere near an ocean. I think I've been around enough to say that a call is a call no matter where you are. Live somewhere you enjoy.

Somewhere around Portland or Eugene (Oregon).

The large majority of my family is there ( I have no family here). I miss the area, I like the rain, and being able to go to the family lake cabin in the cascades whenever I wanted would be nice. And I like having a beach within driving distance.
