Who does rescue where?

Long of short is that I've been working as an EMT-B for about a year and jsut got my medic license. Looking at the possiblity of moving out of my area (just because) and am kind of stumped on the problem of what privates run recue in other locations. Short of word of mouth and person experience, I don't really want to cold call for employment and straight away ask if they are a transport company or more (plenty of options right in my area for that!).

Would State health dept. keep lists of who has 911 contracts within their state(s) or would ya'll recommend cold calling agencies?
