where are the jobs?

That would be one of the very few that are like that with the exception of those involved in a consolidation/merger or takeover where they are giving the displaced private or county Paramedics 3 years to get their FF cert. Majority of the new hires go straight through the academy.

Many FDs have an abundance of applications such as Miami (South Florida) which had 6000 with a large majority of them being Paramedics from FMTI or some other "high quality institution" of training. Most know they must already have their Paramedic to increase their chance of hire. Many from the medic mills come to the hospitals to do their clinicals and announce they just want to be a FF thinking they'll have an easy clinical. Most do get an easy clinical because the hospital staff is too afraid to allow them near the patients.

I heard FMTI is a hell hole.

And OCFD is Orange County Fire.

I heard Oviedo is like that as well.

Wow, nasty.
I do not think that little quote says what you think it says.
I stand by what I said.
Yes, yes it does. Put as simply as possible, the requirements for the degree have to be fulfilled one way or another. It's sort of like getting credits from one college course transferred to a different college; if they agree that what you did meets their requirements for that specific course, then it's done. Little more to it than just taking A&P.

Feel free to contact DHS if you'd like. But if you're going to give out info, try and make it accurate. I know it's the internet, but still...

I know several people who have applied for oregon repricocity and it's a very involved process. Oregon's DOH is very sticky on what credential they will accept and which they won't. Of the three people I know who started the process, only one completed it sucessfully.

But Kev.. my area is looking for EMTs. At one point they even paid moving expenses and certification fees for an applicant moving from somewhere in the south. I'll PM you the link to the agency and a contact name.

Oh for :censored::censored::censored::censored:s sake. You'd really think that somebody who is from Oregon would actually know what the requirements are for reciprocity. But apparently you'd be wrong.

Why is that triemal? Someone in Oregon has no need for repricocity. Um.. they are already there.

Couple reasons actually, and believe me, if that comment seemed harsh, you should have seen what I really wanted to write.

Reason one: part of being a good, professional EMT at any level is knowing hour the EMS SYTEM works; that means at your local level, state level, and yes, national level as well. There is more to being an EMT or paramedic than "dur...we just take dem folks to da hospital." And part of that is knowing how certifications are given in your state, and how reciprocity works. Not knowing this is just another sign that someone is an amateur, or worse, a hobbyist.

Reason two: She gave out the wrong information. Not even a half-true version, but completely wrong. And given how easy it is to find info on Oregon's EMS certifications/reciprocity (seriously, check out the DHS website; they really don't make it hard) that's inexscusable. Especially coming from someone who is an EMT here.

That clear things up?

If your an EMT-b or an EMT-P, AMR Troup County, Georgia would hire you in a heart beat, assuming you can pass the physical agility and drug testing. 12 hour rate for b is probably about $10ish an hour, p about $19ish (I think)

Rent is $600+, fuel is $1.69, health insurance for family is $300ish. Were 1 hour south of Atlanta. We run 5 ALS trucks, about 10,000 calls per year... 85% 911, 15% NET. 99.999% bull:censored::censored::censored::censored:

PS, I'm pretty sure that were an NREMT state. I dont know a thing about reciprocity though.

There are plenty of jobs all over.

Up here in North Dakota EMT-B wage is anywhere from $8 - $11... of course may be more or less, but of the services I have heard of it 8-11.

Acadian has openings....

We are always looking for great medics that want to join our ranks. NREMT-B's can get upgraded to Paramedic through our accelerated Paramedic Course. Contact me if you need more info. Most openings are in Louisiana at the present time. I need three EMT-B's right now and nine EMT-P's...
