Whats the point of companies keeping copies of your paperwork if they don't hire you?

Ive been to 3 interviews already; all the companies ask for a copy of my paperwork AFTER the interview, and they never called back.

Why do they do that? Do they like put you on a dont hire list? lol

To prove they didn't discriminate against you in the hiring process, and to use as a basis for comparison to see if your story changes when/if you reapply later.
Otherwise, assume they will not dig it out when an opening appears. Looking them back up if any time has elapsed is a waste to the employer because people get job, people move, etc.

Keep your job history etc on a three by five card and use it each time you apply for a job so if you reapply it is consistent.

Did you call them after the interview?

It just makes the whole process more streamlined for them I think. Everything is done in sequence, that way everything is usually good to go if you get hired.

As an employer, I used the information as a reference point should the candidate later want to follow up with questions/concerns. It was much easier to have the paperwork in front of me versus in some electronic form. I can see why you'd be asking though.
You have to remember that treating all candidates fairly is a best practice. By taking ones paperwork and not another can be viewed as discriminatory.
On a side note, would you want to try and remember every candidate who came in for an interview. It's much easier to have the records of everything.
