I am fully interested in becoming a Paramedic. Something about it just fascinates me. I am currently in 11th grade and am taking Anatomy. Most likely, I will be taking an EMT course for senior year. The course is for the whole year and 2 hours in length.
The course, obviously, gives students hands-on learning (24 hrs in the emergency room honing assessment skills & providing basic medical care, 48 hrs on an ambulance providing emergency care, and training on high fidelity simulators). In addition, we will be learning immediate medical care (airway management, splinting, childbirth, medication administration, and cardiac arrest management). I want to prepare myself ahead of time before I graduate and look into taking my first EMT course. What should I study beforehand? Will studying my Anatomy book give me needed knowledge?

If you run into any routine calculus and differential equations on the job, let us know.

Snarkyness out of the way, a solid grasp of basic mathematics and statistics goes a long way in any walk of life. Memorizing the conversions between metric and imperial are helpful.
