Meh. I never brought food in on my first day at either of the companies that I've worked for and I never expected new hires or ride alongs to feed me. That's why I had a job (I've sense reverted back to poor, hungry student mode).
As far as maps go, the company you work for should have maps on the ambulance. If you want your own (and, to be honest, having a street guide is a good idea for your POV), look into something like the Rand McNally street guides. I'm not sure what part of MO you're at (and MO has a lot of nothing in it. I've been to Kirksville... twice... :glare
