Remember this all Paramedic to RN programs only wave a semester off... Sure, they claim it to be a year program, but review their literature.. (intro in nursing or Nursing Process etc.. which is basically Nursing 101, before you even apply! Plus, you usually have to have at least 3/4 of all your perquisites prior to applying.
I went through one of the first bridge programs, 17 years ago.. and it was good, but I still missed a lot of essentials. I still say, if you escape some part of a program, you will pay for it later on...
For the NY Regents type, be very cautioned... Rue, etc. are only programs to help you pass the NY Regents (Exclusiveor) program, and yes they are extreme costly.
I am in a class with 2 former NY Regents graduates, and they will tell you less than 10% ever graduate. The program as well is based more on liberal arts than science, and some states do not recognize it for initial license, furthermore most institutions require additional classes .. so, if you want to pursue a bachelor's degree, you will have to take additional classes prior to entering B.S. degree....Their programs are very expensive
I have heard from one of the graduates that NY Regents (Rumored), will no longer allow Paramedics to test out after 2008, due to the fragmented Paramedic programs.. they will allow those that entered..again, I do not know how true this is..
I would save my money and get my basics from a reputable university, many are on-line now, then apply for nursing. No, there is really no difference between ADN & BSN, except career opportunities, money and promoting one self up.
