I have lived in WA for a year now and am wondering where the best places to look online for jobs (paramedic) are. I understand they are hard to come by, as I am having a very difficult time since I do not want to work as a FF. Is it also true that you can't work in the hospitals? I can't get my WA cert without an EMS affiliation. Is there any way around that? Will they hire you with your NREMT? Thanks for any help!

Eastern WA... Like Yakima, Spokane. You can try Olympic in Bremerton. Oly and AMR down south. Thrurston county and centralia. No way around the affiliation.

I live in anacortes and my only concern commuting that far is, is it worth it? The experience alone I would think would make it worth it but those are some seriously long commutes. I drove to Yakima for a pre employment test with amr and I tell you getting a hold of someone through them is like pulling teeth.

Have you looked into Madigan Army Medical Center?

Madigan hires medics, but it's considered a "retirement position" and most of the medics there never leave.

Unless you decide to pursue a career as a fire medic or happen to land one of the "non-fire" paramedic jobs, you're kind of out of luck.

You might want to try and get hired as an IFT medic at one of the smaller companies and that way you'll have your affiliation and you can get your Washington state card.

I think Falck just got their ALS license in Pierce county so you can try them...but you'll end up probably sitting and playing video games for 11 out of 12 hours :P

There's also Olympic in Port Angeles. I THINK they do primary? Not sure though... then there is Ballard Ambulance in Wenatchee, Life Line Ambulance too and I know they are primary. And ALS in Yakima. Rural/Metro in Tacoma just hired a batch of medics but when they have openings again definitely try them!

Yeah, Oly in PA runs primary 911 with medics, but that's a long commute from Anacordes. You'd be better off working a 48 in Yak and driving over once a week. I did that from Bremerton.
