Just taking a stab in the dark here, does anyone have any knowledge as to the workings of the Valley Health System? It's a hospital chain centralized in the Shenandoah Valley region of VA.

It's looking highly likely that I'm moving out that way in the next couple of months. They compensate per diem ALS (I's and medics I suppose) from 12.50-20.89/hr. I was wondering how they determine compensation, what hours they need to keep your status, etc. I also heard that at one time that they do Paid On Call on the overnights. That's where they only pay you if you get a call. That's a definite deal breaker in 46 Young's world. Someone told me that they no longer do that. I'm looking for more than 17/hr, preferably towards the top of the pay scale. I bring five years experience as a medic, with three years (probably 15-20 hrs/wk) IFT experience along with 5 years of 911.

Anyone got the scoop?
