Has anyone worked for UCLA Ronald Reagan/Santa Monica as an EMT for their Ambulance Transport Services? I just recently got a job offer with them and I was wondering what a typical day was like. They seem like a very cohesive, great team of people to work with. Thank you!

I will be the first to say...timing.

Had a former coworker who worked for them before moving on to being an RN for the hospital. In short some days it was busy for him and in others it was slow and he got to just chill on duty. Short answer is go work for them and it will be one of the better IFT jobs you can get in SoCal.

Thanks. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth leaving my current job at Care for. I really like working fire in LaCo and I'm not sure if I would enjoy doing IFTs as much.. but I'm hoping being at UCLA will put my foot in the door for eventually working as an ER Trauma Tech there.

It does help as you would be an internal candidate.

I heard they do some 911 to the ucla campus correct?
From what I understand UCLA hospital has its own txp between SM and Westwood campus running IFT. There is also a UCLA EMS that is staffed by current students. They run calls on campus. Any where from head aches to ETOH and all that goes with college life parties. The 2 I believe are two different entities.

This is correct

Thank you so much. Had no idea two UCLA companies existed.

I can almost guarantee that UCLA will have better pay and benefits compared to Care. UCLA Patient Transport also handles all of the NICU/PICU transports for UCLA and they get some good CCT transports between the two hospitals.

In the end. It's whatever gets you what you need. If you do accept, let us know how it is working there!
