i decided that 7 years of dip was enough. havent had the delicious taste of copenhagen for 2 days now. its a bunch of bull! hahaha. trying to join the army and figured they make you quit during basic so maybe this will make it suck less. btw. #pointless thread# if you have quit dip how did you do it? cold turkey or pacing?

I never dip before but did smoke before. Even if you join the Army and quit while your in the army, you'll start back to dipping again after you get out of boot camp. The only way to quit is you, it's all mental games and it sucks at first, but find an activity to do or chew on something c
When you feel the urge to smoke. Smoking is more of an excuse to socialize as well. So if your serious about quitting, have will to quit, or else you'll go back to that routine again.

Mental over matter! You can do it!

There are a few companies that make "fake dip" that can help you at least get that oral fixation while you wait for the nicotine to leave your system. Many of them taste awful but there are a few that arent half bad. Its going to be impossible to find one that tastes like Copenhagen but if you try out some of the mint/wintergreen flavors you might find one you like.

Little off topic but I have several friends who have switched over to to E cigarettes and they love em.

Way to go Joe. I have tried to quit smoking, I don't even remember how many times. I finial did, but I use the Snus packs now. It's a spitless form of dip. So, I guess I traded one thing for another lol. I wish you all the best at keeping up with your quest to quit. Be Safe everyone

I quit smoking 9 yrs ago. I used to smoke between 2 to 3 packs a day (a Canadfian cigarette package has 25 cig compared to a US 20 pack) Which was between 50 to 75 cigs a day. I smoked that for 20 yrs, I had hardly any withdrawals I had the pastor of the church was going say a prayer to help me quit. I haven't had a cigarette since if I can do it than a majority will be able to.

So how you doing so far? I tried to quit a couple months ago, with this crap. I was a raging :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: for two days, then started again.

I think I'll try again starting tonight. Did some reading on gum recession and other nasty crap like that, then read this. Time to get motivated. Sunflower seeds and tooth picks for me all day tomorrow. I feel bad for the newbie I'm working with tomorrow

hey thanks you guys! it really means alot to have some support. here at home all my friends are rednecks and dont see how anyone could quit hahaha. well its been 4 days and it sucks. ive picked up some of the fake minty dip and it is horrible but it seems to be working i guess. i had some friends do snuss. im just trying to cut out the nicotine so i dont think that would be a good idea haha. hell im not even sure i want to quit forever just long enough to where i will actually enjoy it again. i was at 2 cans a day and it was to the point where i would just take a dip and hate every second of it.

I quit dip by going to the dentist and having her tell me of the nastey damage I had been exposing myself to, chew gum
