Had a nurse ask me this today, "How do you get a blood pressure on a pt. w/ bilateral arm and leg amputations?"

My thought was you can't.... but can you?
 
Are we talking about complete amputations? Even if stumps are left, those stumps still have arteries. And, yes, invasive BP might be an option.

All you need for a blood pressure is an artery. I believe there is a major artery in the neck ;)
 
Use a bariatric BP cuff on the neck, and auscultate the carotid artery. Never had any problems with this method

Would it be possible to still auscultate BPs with Below the knee/elbo amputations?

That was my other thought, but I'm shy :D
